I can’t even imagine the complaints we would get about the number of pattern pieces if we had lined it! People are very intimidated by a large number of pattern pieces. Never mind that it sews up quickly, it’s the number of pattern pieces. And that goes for the Lisette patterns too. If it has a lot of pieces people won’t buy it. Sometimes I get a…[Read more]

By the way, it really isn’t hard to rub off a pair of jeans that fit you well and alter the pattern to fit you even better. I should do a video tutorial for that one of these days!

I like Cone denim. And I LOVE the Japanese denim, but you never see that available as yardage. Sadly. But here’s a source for Cone that I contemplate every once in a while. I’d go for the 12.5 oz rigid. But that’s just me. And my relatively powerful sewing machine.

Sadly, Mood’s denim isn’t usually up to snuff. But like I said, I’m a really picky customer. I don’t buy jeans very often, and when I do I expect them to last for a really long time. I wear them until they’re more holes than denim. But I do have trouble finding a good fit, so I’d be willing to sew them if I could find the right denim (and time!).

Yes, @motherof5, yes regarding lining the Secret Agent trench!
I own the pattern and have never made it – and I admit it’s because I prefer a lined jacket. I worry that my version would end up too bathrobe-like and not be worn.
Could you link to your blog post about lining it and I’ll check it out…please!

I’ve heard the Jalie pattern is quite good. I’ve always resisted jeans because it’s nearly impossible to find really good quality denim! Any good sources? I’m picky, but if I’m going to take the take to sew jeans I want to use premium denim like you’d find in a pair of expensive jeans.

I wonder if the Secret Agent was a lined jacket if that would have made a difference.
My blog post re lining it gets a lot of hits.I like @reeni idea of a multi size system too.
A shirt/blouse and a new shorts pattern would be super appreciated too.

@Enbee I cannot recommend the Ginger jeans enough and they have just released a boot cut version.
The zip fly instructions are the best I have ever used.

@cybele727, I was thinking about you and the notcher last night. Notchers are a lot like hole punches: I think that if you tried to use them on fabric you would be sorely disappointed. They’re really intended as a pattern-making tool for notching the heavy cardstock that’s used in sample rooms. If you tried to use them on fabric I think they…[Read more]

Talk to me about sewing supplies and other things you’d like us to carry, will you? What would be most useful or inspiring to you? It doesn’t really make sense to us or to you to carry things that you can find everywhere else. Is there something you can’t find and want us to carry? Would you be interested in things that I love that you might not…[Read more]

@justsewit, I think you’ll be very happy with the spring Lisette for Butterick patterns. It’s definitely in line with your thinking, especially if you don’t mind a few tweaks to make it more rain-worthy…
All of you lovelies who are requesting a blazer or moto jacket: if we had seen sales of the Secret Agent Trench Coat that were in line with…[Read more]

You are right, you do know the answer.
It won’t go over her head.I have topstitched that seam in a #4 stitch length and then had it be too firm.
Sorry to confirm what you knew.

A Blazer is still top on my wish list and has been for years. A Moto jacket would be awesome though.
