I live in Southern Louisiana and have been sewing on and off for 15yrs. I had trouble finding any one willing to teach me so I bought a local shop and brought in the teachers. I have been blessed to have had a crash coarse in sewing. I have found a love for hand smocking and heirloom sewing. Its seems to be the only time I am paying full attention the first time around to my sewing, all the directions and cutting etc.! I have a bad habit of talking on the phone or catching up on my shows while sewing. When it comes to the heirloom sewing though it is all attention! I guess if you put $100 worth of fabric and my hand work on something that im about to cut, you can be sure i have tested the pattern and double checked everything. I have also messed up so much in my sewing life that i have many creative ways to overcome things. Working in a shop also offers you everyone elses years of experience that they lovingly pass on to you. I have learned many tricks from customers that I find invaluable in my sewing. I have been blessed no doubt.
