@JWo what a clever idea to use a mirror! I’ve read that for knitting Fair Isle it’s great to be able to knit both English and Continental — maybe lefties have advantages when it comes to certain kinds of knitting?

Sarvi started the topic Your most-viewed project on Flickr? in the forum off topic 10 years ago
Do you ever check your stats on flickr? I check them from time to time just to look for signs of any unusual activity. There’s not usually anything too interesting but I have noticed that one dress that found its way onto Pinterest is viewed almost every day. Not a ton of views each day, at most four or five. But when I clicked on the photo today…[Read more]

That’s a pretty good amount of stretch — would you be able repurpose it into a regular Seashore if it didn’t work out as a closure-free version?

Did everybody hear that? That was me popping a bottle of champagne — I have some wool and silk tweed I’ve been saving for this since 2011, no joke!

This one is designed to have a pretty slim silhouette. What age is the child and how much stretch does your fabric have? I imagine an older child could shimmy into it but it might be a bit of a struggle. When you say stretch, are you thinking of a woven with some stretch? Or a knit? Could you use snaps (the kind you sew in) or velcro to make a…[Read more]

This is also not a ‘broken’ but a usability question — would it be possible to modify the @ function so it uses the screen name rather than the profile name?

@motherof5 That is so funny about the steel wool! I would love to be part of a group like that. In junior high school (about age 12-14) that was the only class I did well in. Still love the smell of sawdust and the clang of tools.
@rhythmtyagi Wow, you must be so proud! I could hardly the back of your work from the front. And I bet it’s not only…[Read more]

Oh, you’re all so lovely. Thank you. It means a lot to me that you say this.
And yes, I think maybe it’s time to tackle that blazer you’ve all been requesting for such a long time now. I’ll see what I can do between the other projects I’ve got going on!

I would love to join a sewing group. I used to be in a furniture restoration group, we had a blast, scrubbing away with our steel wool.
Every now and then you would drop your steel wool in your wine instead of the metho. -

Ooh, that yarn is luscious!
I wish we all lived close enough for a stitch & word that rhymes with stitch. I have two ‘students’ right now (friends I’m helping with little things, really, they’re teaching themselves) and it’s so much fun to see somebody face light up when something clicks for them.
Reading is usually the best way for me to…[Read more]

I am slightly nervous to share our tea tonight as it is very much ‘nursery nourishment’ but my children love it, so I shall.
Curry in a hurry
Brown two large chopped onions in some oil, stirring occasionally.
Put water on to boil a dozen eggs. Hard boil, chill, peel and chop up, set aside. While the onion wass cooking I diced a cold cooked…[Read more]
