Wouldn’t Step 5 cut off the gathering stitches at the center front curve?

Step 4. Add a gathering stitch 1/4 inch inside the seam allowance to the center-front curve.

Step 5. Trim the neckline seam allowance (1/4 inch). Begin and end 1-2″ below the neckline center front curve.

How very strange, my version has completely different wording. I’ve attached a screencap below. It looks like the gathering stitches are for the outer/corner part of the curve, the convex curves if you see what I mean. The trimming/clipping is for concave, inner curves. Can somebody who’s made it clarify?

Should the gather stitches just be on the lining?

What I did. After pulling up the gathering stitch and pressing to encourage the lining to stay put when turned to the right side, then I trimmed the seam allowance at the neckline top center curve. Once pressed, I do not think the gather stitches needed to remain.

    Glad it worked out!
