I have just cut out the pattern pieces for the tea party sundress in size 6-12 m (digital version) and notice that the bodice and lining pattern pieces are not the same when laid flat. I am quite new to sewing and just want to confirm how to pin and sew the bodice to the lining. Am I to match the edges together and pin, allowing the pattern pieces to remain slightly different? Or should I sew them together as if they were meant to be the same size/shape? I suspect the former but want to be sure.

I should know this as I have sewn this pattern so many times!

The bodice and bodice lining should be reasonably similar, sew the side seams and then slip the two, right sides together.

Are they very very different or is the lining just a wee bit narrower?

Yes, it is the lining that is slightly smaller.

Match your edges and that should be perfect. The bodice will pull slightly to the inside, ever so slightly.

OK I will do this. Many thanks for your prompt replies!
