i’m confused by the instructions to finish the jacket hem. it says to edgestitch the facing to the jacket starting at the collar seam. i’m not sure what that means. does that mean the shoulder seam? the edge where the collar ends on the front of the jacket?

also, it says to go down the front of the jacket, then the bottom of the jacket for a distance, then to pivot up 7/8″ and then hem from there. but that makes an odd zig zag. here’s my attempt to draw it here (supposed to be one continuous line going down, then to the right, then up, then right):
