I want to make a playtime dress in knit but have a question about the interfacing. Should I use the same knit fabric or could I use a bit more stable fabric like a quilting cotton so the neckline doesn’t stretch out?

I have done that with Sailboat tops Jane and it definitely does make a longer lasting neckline. The only problem can be a wee bit of tucking when sewing the two together. I find if I stop and lift the presser foot if things are bunching the facing will sit smoother.

Thanks Nicole. Perhaps I will use my walking foot to avoid bunching with the two fabrics.

I used a knit fabric, but I stabilized it with some non-woven iron-on interfacing. If you do try it in a quilting cotton, let us know how it turns out.
