Hello, I am just starting out and working from the Little things to sew book. The bib pattern calls for a 3/8 in double fold bias tape. The only 3/8 in bias tape maker I can find is single fold. What’s up with that?

I’m glad you asked! This can be confusing. You’ll want to look for a 3/4″ bias maker (the correct Clover bias maker is the red one, labeled #18). That will give you 3/4″-wide single-fold bias, which becomes 3/8″-wide bias when it’s folded in half and pressed to be come double-fold.

Does that make sense? Packaged double-fold bias doesn’t come in a 3/8″ width, so you can either purchase packages that are 1/4″ wide double-fold or 7/8″ wide single-fold (and then fold and press it to get tape that’s slightly wider than 3/8″).

    I hope that helps!
