That is so, so beautiful!!!
You sure do prove it. Your workmanship is wonderful!I’m in San Francisco, CA, by the way. Thanks for inspiring me from Australia!

Whatever you like!
But here’s a picture where i prove that you can French seam every seam on the Lullaby Layette blouse/bodysuit. It’s a lovely, tidy finish if you can be bothered. If you look in the tutorials section of the website you’ll find quite a number of seam finish tutorials. -

Thanks for your thoughts!
One more question!
What seam finish do you use on the baby clothes?
Thanks, again!

I confess I bought myself a big, benchtops snap press a few years ago – what’s a hobby if it doesn’t allow for tool purchases, right?!
I’ve heard good things about the Snap pliers (KAM or Snapsource), but in my experience the hammer in snaps you can buy from fabric shops are a nightmare. (Bear in mind I’m in Australia and the plier snap sets don’t…[Read more] -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Tulip sleeves too tight in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 6 years ago
I think I’ve only made the tulip sleeve once in all my Fairy Tale iterations, but no, no problems…
Did the sleeve sew into the armhole ok? Obviously, the amount of overlap would affect the tightness when worn but would also change how the sleeve attached.
From memory, after you’ve overlapped there’s still a bit of gathering of the sleeve head.…[Read more] -

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback! I was thinking that about the pants, too. Last night I was looking through the pattern and realized that I need to get snaps. People on the forum advised Snap Source. Do you usually get them online?
I only need six (and maybe a few to practice on!) and might check my fabric store first.
I’m excited to be s…[Read more] -

Hi Nancy. My feeling is that the pants are the simplest of the three garments in the Lullaby Layette.
However, there’s nothing overly tricky about the jacket or blouse/bodysuit and the instructions will walk you through it nicely. In fact, if you ever quilted and you’re a dab hand at applying binding then you might find the jacket the…[Read more] -

I haven’t done much sewing for many years. I’d like to start with the easiest garment in this collection. Can you advise me?
Thanks! -

Hi! I’m sewing the terrace dress for the first time. I’m making it for myself to match my daughter’s dress (made from the building block dress book, so fun), and I just found out I’m expecting my 4th baby (hurray!). I’d like the dress to fit me through the summer, so say until about 7 months. For those of you who have sewn it before, is it…[Read more]

Yes, they are moderately dropped because of the sleeve style and the less fitted structure of the dress. I hope that helps!

Apologies for the delay in replying! I finally had a chance to look at this, and it appears that we replaced the dots with notches at the top edge of the front and back skirt pieces. I’ll make a note to fix this on the instructions, and I apologize for the confusion!

Hi Lisa,
Sorry for the late reply. Can you specify which pattern piece you’re referring to. Or which step in the instructions.
Are you working from the paper pattern or a print out if the PDF?
I can look at the printed pattern and see if I can help, but not having made it before I’m not sure which piece has gathering.
