This is 21 wale corduroy, so not an exact match to what you’re proposing. I interlined with flannel and lined with quilting cotton, and the coat as a whole definitely does have more drape than the version I made out of wool coating, but it’s held up well (the photo is from ODS, and YDS probably wore it for the last time this winter, 10 years…[Read more]

Will 6-8 wale corduroy work for this pattern? I don’t want it to look sloppy because the fabric has too much drape.

I know the forum doesn’t see much action anymore, but I’m no longer on Facebook or Insta, and I’m just so pleased with this make that used not only this gorgeous pattern but also two past blog posts that I wanted to say thanks here.
This O & S blog post (https://oliverands.com/community/blog/2020/08/sew-tell-twirly-popover-dress.html) from 2020…[Read more]

I think they could work well together, yes! The Brunswick has very simple lines and could be a great layering piece, especially if you coordinate the colors or the fabric. I hope you’ll show us!

I want to make Kyoto for a casual wedding next month. Due to unsettled weather, I was considering the Brunswick jacket. Do you think they will go together?

Kim replied to the topic Making a size 6 in the forum oliver + s: girl on the go 9 months ago
Thank you for your help and I’ll look at the customizations. I did take out the school bus tee pattern yesterday and I placed the tracing of the hopscotch over it. I noticed that the pattern pieces are straight, rather than shaped at the waist, and the neck line is higher. Im thinking about making a neck facing like the girl on the go too.

This one has lots of t-shirt options and there are links to blog posts about lengthening and making A-line

Hi Kim,
Three granddaughters to sew for, what a treat!
I feel like using the Hopscotch pattern as a base for a dress that you want to look like the Girl on the Go is over complicating things a bit. Not that that’s not what I normally do!
Here’s a few other options to think of:
1: just make the size 8 for the size 6 kid anyway. It’s a t-shirt dress…[Read more] -

I am sewing dresses for Easter for my three granddaughters. I am making this dress in a size 14 and a size 8. My six-year-old granddaughter measures a a size 6 for the hopscotch dress pattern. The Girl on the Go pattern starts at a size 8 I thought about using the hopscotch dress and trying to change the front to a tee shirt like neckline and a…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Sinatra Top/Dress in the forum liesl + co: sintra halter top + dress 9 months ago
Hello! The Sintra top/dress is unlined, so the pattern and instructions don’t include lining instructions. I would suggest interlining it if you’re adding a lining. With regard to piece 6, there are two size groupings in order to read the details more easily, so you only need to find the piece that includes your size. I hope that helps!

The fabric I have selected is a cotton voile and the dress will need to be lined. Do you have instructions to line this dress? Also, if lined, I may not need the pattern piece #6…but in case I do, or for future reference, could you please tell me how to determine which piece #6 to use? There three different sizes availalbe. I am making a size…[Read more]
