Sewing friends sure are the best
Better than all of the rest
    They’re there every time
    To offer a rhyme
And to help if you’ve messed up your vest!

There’s nothing that I would like more

I have finally finished my daughters vintage pattern trench coat. (Happy dance)

I am looking forward to sewing her twin’s Lisette Moto jacket. Far less fabric to negotiate.

Tamara you could try burda 9606. I have used it for my boys, despite the fact that there is a girl on the front. Because the pattern is quite straight (no extra hip allowance) it works for boys as well. My boy is on the slim side so men’s jeans are too big. We did need to add some depth to the torso area and some to the leg.

Oh thank heavens. Fingers crossed he continues to improve and you’re able to sort out what on earth happened. So, so glad to hear you’re surrounded with help!

Thank you ladies. We are fortunate to have very good support – so many people have brought food that we don’t have room in our refrigerator. And I have lots of help with the children. I am trying to balance spending time with them and being at the hospital, as my husband is sad when I leave. My in-laws are here so we are taking shifts.

  • How frustrating Tamara!
I’m trying my first straight stitch society pattern, I have all the pieces cut for the Have It All Wallet. Now to see if I can find the interfacing!

  • Really sorry not be able to help more!!

  • Sorry, I don’t know where that 6 came from — “lower side panel” is number 10 for me as well.

For 10+11 I got 20 5/8″ as well, along the longer edge (right edge of the pattern piece, with the double notches. For piece 9 I’m getting 20 1/16″, so 3/8″ difference — but I’m having to sort of eyeball where the stitching line is for the long edge…[Read more]

  • When I line up all of the notches and match the pattern pieces, there’s a 13/16″ difference when 8 (pants front) and 9 (pants back) are lined up (with 8 being shorter), and then if I line up 10/11 (upper side panel/lower side panel) and 9 (pants back), 10/11 is 7/16″ longer than 9. So the difference between the pants front and the side becomes……[Read more]

  • The issue is that my upper side panel (piece 10) plus lower side panel (piece 11) are 20 5/8″ (with the 1/2 overlap between piece 10 and 11), the pants back (piece 9) is 20 3/16″, and then the pants front (piece 8) is only 18 5/8″. Or, when I line up all of the notches and match the pattern pieces, there’s a 13/16″ difference when 8 (pants front)…[Read more]

Oh No! I’m so sorry that you all are having to deal with this, especially with a new baby at home. You, your husband, and the kids are in my thoughts and prayers. (((Hugs)))
