My big news – baby Dorothy Narelle arrived on March 14th! I haven’t managed to do any sewing yet, just a little knitting so…[Read more]

Yes, I think it’s fine for older kids. You might need the buttons for smaller kids. It’s a proportion thing; little kids have much larger heads compared to their overall body size. It can be quite a challenge when I’m developing patterns!

i am sewing up a sample for 40 little aprons for the dance recital first weekend of May, which is also dd’s First Communion… I hope to get those out of the way so I can focus on her dress, which will be a Fairytale with a long circle skirt out of silk dupioni with long sheer chiffon sleeves (I think the 2+2 sleeve), and a jacket or capelet…[Read more]

the sandbox pants only go up to a size 8, but the Parachute and Art Museum go higher, but only to size 12. You’ll want to add crotch depth as well as width so that when they are worn, the pants don’t ride up or down. Something that looks fine standing still quickly becomes a problem when boys move!
Looking at size charts, a size 14 boys is about…[Read more] -

I have been busy tracing and altering patterns for myself. As yet I have one dress in pieces yet to be sewn and I traced the field trip pattern last night in order to sew a few basics for the baby.
Today I will trace an adult raglan pattern for my eldest and see if I can get a few t shirts from the seemingly minimal knit fabric range I have.
The…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 9 years agoHi Marsha
The beauty of these sewalongs is that even when they nave finished, you can still sew along.
I’m sorry you had trouble posting a photo. Sometimes like you say the file is too big to be loaded. Do you have a flickr account? Maybe we could see your photo in the group?

I made a 2+2 blouse with some vintage fabric, a pretty floral-print eyelet. There was not enough fabric width-wise to have the eyelet run in the same direction front and back; after some fiddling it occurred to me to see if I could eliminate the back opening and cut the back out as one piece, and just make the front slit/neckline a little bigger…[Read more]
