I just made a lovely ham, broccoli and cauliflower casserole/pasta bake in the slow cooker!
Ingredients
750g Ham (1.5lb)
1kg (2lb) broccoli and cauliflower florets (I use frozen)
1 tin cream of celery soup
large handful of grated cheese
Method
1. Cut ham in 1cm (1/2″) cubes and put in the bottom of the slow cooker
2. mix (thawed) broccoli and…[Read more] -

I have a big pot of this simmering on the stovetop:

And as you can see here ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/110619443@N04/15054384036/ ), my mindset when cooking with wine is “some for the sauce, some for me. Some for the sauce, and a little more for me.” 😉 )
(Have I mentioned I…[Read more] -

For the garden party, I sewed the shoulder straps to the skirt back instead of the yoke. It was a very what the heck moment. I even checked for errata! Haha.

No, don’t worry, a lot of us were so excited to have shirt we jumped in and sewed it up!

Thanks, I didn’t even think to look at the picture on the packet (duh!) I have already made notes on my tracings for next time.

Roxyrox replied to the topic Garden party dress sleeves in the forum oliver + s: garden party 11 years ago
I decided to cut the sleeve a little bit longer (1-1.5″) and did a very narrow hem. I then took a 2″ piece of 1/8″ elastic and stitched that (while stretching) about 1/4 above the hem along the center hem line. It pulled the sleeve down making the sleeve less “poofy” but not too tight for my daughter (who doesn’t like elastic in sleeves). The…[Read more]

I am sorry you are sad Roxy.
If you look at the picture on the pattern packet, the shirt is untucked and only just reaches the waistband, thus the style.
I did a length comparison shot here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/4773996320/in/set-72157625212212623
If you want to tuck, it does need some length added. -
Kim replied to the topic Sleeveless armhole binding and sizing in the forum oliver + s: garden party 11 years ago
I thought I would follow up on my original question on the length of the binding for the sleeveless version. On my second sleeveless dress, in the same 12 – 18 month size, again the binding seemed much shorter than the arm opening. I pinned it on each end and in the center of the binding to the center of the sleeve opening and stretched it to fit…[Read more]

Haha Katy, I love talking about food too! Homemade spaghetti sauce with ground beef in it tonight.
Anyone else a big Pioneer Woman fan? I’ve got two of her cookbooks and so many recipe printouts from her website that I had to create a tabbed binder just for her recipes! Ben loves her food bc it’s full of butter and cream and bacon. Which in…[Read more] -

The sleeve cap is not that gathered but I can understand what you mean by then looking ‘poofy’.
I would consider narrowing the sleeves down to the sleeve hem, tapering them, but I probably would leave the sleeve cap be. -

Yes, this style is not as fitted as some of our other styles. The dress is intended to be a looser fit, not a very fitted style. But if you find it to be roomier than you prefer, you could certainly refer to the finished measurement chart to choose the size you prefer. I hope that helps!

Thank you for the sizing information. I have two more cut out for my other granddaughters so I will go by the chest measurements and perhaps retrace a smaller size for each. I did fold the binding completely inside on the first dress and I will do that again. .

I haven’t made the sleeveless version but I would fold the binding completely inside unless I was using a contrasting fabric.
Like Nicole I found it really roomy while the Birthday Party more fitted. -
Nicole replied to the topic Changing neckline in the forum liesl + co: cappuccino dress + tunic 11 years ago
I have made both tops but it would be beyond me to do an ‘easy’ tute to swop them over.
I am not sayings its not do-able, I am just don’t think it would be a simple task. -

I want to try the v-neck but would love to know how to try the rounded as well. Listening with interest!
