Hehe, that’s exactly why I ask, somebody requested one!If I could afford it I’d buy this one, the photos don’t come close to the real thing, it’s GORGEOUS in person. I bet a lot of it is done by hand:

Thanks all for taking the time to reply, it helped me to sort through the couple of dress patterns I do own. Roundtheworldgirl thank you for ranking the ones you have sewn, that was useful. I am leaning towards the Icecream as I have that pattern coming in the mail but I do think the Family Reunion (which I would like to own) would look good in a…[Read more]

Someone might suggest the Coco dress by Tilly and the buttons with the funnel neck option. If they do, don’t listen, I think it’s pretty poorly drafted.
There must be a vintage Vogue pattern that’s similar surely….
If you find it I’ll have a dress just like your daughter’s please. 🙂 -

Thanks for taking the time to reply, roundtheworldgirl. Yes I did this. I ended up removing them and redoing, making them slightly longer and curving them slightly so they were narrower at the point. They sit much nicer now, well one always did.
Now to decide whether to line or not!

Yes, I second Nicole. Looks like silk or fine cotton, with the circles embroidered on, and the backing fabric carefully cut away at the top.

I think the Bubble is the one I can do the fastest from start to finish — no terribly tricky seams, only a few buttons, fully lined so you needn’t be particular about a fussy seam finish, and if you use elastic you don’t have to hem it (and if you hem it, you don’t have to use elastic)! The ones where only the bodice is lined always seem to take…[Read more]

Did you taper off the edge of the dart slowly and tie the ends of it by hand rather than backstitching? If not, that might be the problem. Maybe if you take a photo we might be able to troubleshoot.

And on them we’ll load
My completely deflated souffle.I am almost out of time to sew

Family ReunionMost time-consuming:

If it is a plain linen and you are in sunny climes, I think the seashore. I love the icecream for a quickish sew, but you would need more than one fabric for this. An icecream sundress in linen would be gorgeous, please make it!

Yes – roller skate, hopscotch and Icecream (my personal fav – I have made a colour blocked version using linen) – & adding bubble, tea party (but both only go to size 5, although my 6.5 yr old still fits into them), music box and popover 🙂

Mm my bust darts aren’t looking too good. I did move them on the pattern to line up with the bust apex and the body/ waist ones look fine. But the under arm one ends funny and doesn’t sit nice. Like a dimple. I had to shorten this one about an inch otherwise it would have ended right at the bust apex/ nipple and definitely would not have been a…[Read more]
