I think I might nearly be up to a muslin 🙂 In some ways the pattern no longer looks like the original, but I have a much better idea why most RTW and sewn straight from the pattern pants pretty much never fit!
It’s been about 4 hours work so far just on flat pattern adjustment and probably another hour or so before it’s ready for the muslin…[Read more] -

Heidi its expensive and slow as a wet week! I ordered some miracle blankets and I swear they are walking them across the Nullabor still! They were sent ofer a week ago from NSW.
I managed to sew for an hour last night and again today. I didn’t get a heap done though – just a lot of fiddling and procastinating. I managed to cut and sew neck and…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI believe it is broken down into 2 size ranges – 1-4 and 5-8. Here’s a link for the size 5-8 that I searched on google. I KNOW the back of the pattern has sizes 1-8 listed, so I think it is legit!

Thanks Nicole! I have a 50cm/20″ one which has been fantastic but not quite long enough for my crotch curve 🙁 I Know postage within Australia is shockingly expensive!

It is a shame postage is so expensive over to Tassie, I received a box of fabric and notions a few days back and there is a bendy ruler thing in there. I will toss it in with the polar fleece Heidi.
I finished a Field Trip tee for Tildy but the neck was too large and I missed it before I had topstitched it. I ended up making it work with poppers…[Read more]

Draft the pattern piece on to the the fabric, but leave extra length at the waist. You can cut that off if you need to.
Or add to it.I have a post here in which I muddled through the process, but it worked!

I made myself a faux wrap top yesterday! I modified the penny pinafore and it worked beautifully 🙂
Todsy I’m trying to get shorts to fit, I hope I can find where to buy a long flexible curve ruler locally as I think it will make the process much easier 🙂 -

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoOh no, the Hilary pattern only goes up to size 4! I was so in love with the cap sleeves and the single button back. And the bride loved it too! 🙁

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoYes, I will definitely consider that! I could do some pleating or pintucks on a solid voile for the bodice, but not on the embroidery. It’s just logistically unsuited to anything other than using it as is, or piecing it in long strips like they did in Sew Beautiful.
But yes, I’m definitely thinking of the front V now. Thanks!

Thank you! I’ll try that. Did you end up leaving the darts off the one you made for your daughter (I was reading through the posts today)?
My LO has had the same chest size for at least 4 months now, if not more. She did grow from beginning of December to now but she is on the shorter side so length is not going to be a problem. I just worry…[Read more]

No, no voting. It has designated judges. Hence the small panic and dress deconstruction/reconstruction. But I sat down yesterday, and whirred at the machine, and I’m much happier. Fine tooth comb and all.
