Try Etsy, just look carefully at the size – I ordered some for Audrey’s coat and ended up using them for Harriet’s instead! They were tiny…
The ones I ended up with for Audrey’s were custom made out of Fymo, or something like that. Love her toggles 🙂

When the thermometer dips below zero
    Long-johns become my new hero
But I guess you can tell
    they’re itchy as hell
‘cuz I’m scratching like some kind of weirdo!

Sorry to do the whole limerick, but it’s EXACTLY what I’m doing right now and for the same reason 🙂

Hey all, I’m back! Moved, and nearly sewing!
We moved into our house a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve just been trying to get things unpacked and sorted since. I’m only just starting to feel like things are settling down.
Chris put up the fence on the top floor to divide my sewing area from the kids play area over the weekend, so my space is ready…[Read more]

I keep seeing bonded fabrics around. What kind of projects would these be really good for? I’m fascinated by the idea of ‘two-for-one’ and how you might be able to use it without lining. I guess on a basic level it might just remove the need for a lining. I’m interested in what could be done with it, I’d love to hear…[Read more]

I think that tulle is the type of fabric, i.e. a net like fabric. You can definitely get in made of different things, so silk tulle is the kind of fabric used on dreamy romantic wedding dresses. It feels soft and is expensive http://www.topfabric.co.uk/soft-silk-tulle-nude.html

You can get other types of tulle which are cheaper (and I suspect…[Read more]

I am searching for tulle for the fairy tale dress. Are there different grades of tulle? I see a listing on amazon for 40 yards of 54 inch nylon tulle priced at $19.49 for the bolt. Is this what I want? Is there different tulle for sewing?

    Thanks!

  • The one consistent request from our oldest niece is a RAINCOAT. She has mentioned it for months and now we are tickled that we have the fabric in hand and are ready to hit the ground running sewing! We are really wanting to use hot pink {red might even be okay} toggles. Does anyone have a good source for a set of these in a substance that wouldn’t crack?

A new year means new patterns for me.
Last year’s are all looking twee
I just have to buy more….
    I’ll buy the whole store
Because prices just dropped, you will see!

(Sorry, couldn’t help myself. We just did a big price cut on all Named Patterns thanks to the favorable swing–for those of you in the US–in the USD-EUR exchange rate. Happy shopp…[Read more]

  • When I try copy and paste for a link, it won’t even paste. If I open a word doc and paste it into the doc, it works, but if I try and paste in this, it doesn’t work at all.

For the admin’s info. I am on a Mac (Yosemite), using Chrome. I thought it was just me being inept that was having problems so I didn’t mention it to anyone.

  • @FrancesSuzanne
    Yes, that’s the one.
Link button doesn’t work for me either but the copy/paste does.

  • Is this the one you are referring to, @Deb ? I’m trying it with the link button {above} first, and then copy/pasting a second time in case the 1st doesn’t work….

I finished the pants yesterday and have been working on the bodysuit – only sleeves, sides seams and the bottom part to go. Oh and poppers!

Next I aim to trace bigger sized patterns ready.

  • I’ve never learned to love eggplant – maybe I should give it a try again.

I’m stuck on the quinoa. It’s so good, I’ve had it for lunch all last week and this week. I make a batch on Sunday night, divide it into 4 jars and top up with chicken, fish or beef. Perfect for lunch.
