Thanks @Todd, that was a great read and yep, the behind the scenes stuff is interesting.
I’m going to take even more pride in the fact that I can nearly always beat the computer! Although given the expense to you I will also feel a little guilty. 🙂
I think the variant for me that makes the fabric buying guide less than ideal is fabric width. I…[Read more] -

We’ve heard that there is a separate box out for the new Lisette patterns, but we haven’t seen it yet–if you can believe that.
If someone is going shopping next week to get these on sale and happens to see the box, please take a photo and share it here. We would love to see what Butterick has done.

That is crazy interesting @Todd! I always wondered how the yardage was planned, I imagined someone cutting each size out and lining it up, glad to know it is (possibly) less time consuming than that. I love all these behind the scenes ‘secrets’ you have all been sharing lately between here and instagram. Keep ’em coming! 😉

I picked up the new Lisette dress B6168 at JoAnn Fabrics this morning– it was in a separate, all-Lisette display on top of the pattern cabinets and marked as 40% off. When it rang up, I was only charged $1.66– I don’t know if it was a fluke, but it’s worth checking out if you’re going there anyway! Can’t wait to make it up. I have 3 yards of…[Read more]

Rhythm started the topic sleeve tab help in the forum oliver + s: jump rope 10 years ago
I have a rather embarrassing question to ask, I am totally unable to turn out the sleeve tab! This is a size 18m and is rather tiny. I have a loop turner but that requires both ends to be open( I think!). Any suggestions on how to turn it out onto the right side?

If you’re reading this thread and are interested in how yardage estimates are developed and whether you may be able to use less fabric than we recommend, you might be interested in this post left on a different thread.

For what it’s worth, here’s how we determine yardage. This may help you understand a bit about how much you may be able to cut back on required yardage when purchasing fabric. And I know some of you enjoy these behind-the-scenes peeks at our process, so here we go.
But first, a disclaimer. If you read this, think you’re good enough to squeeze out…[Read more]

Thanks for all the great ideas! Please, keep adding them!
That does remind me I’ve been thinking I need a DVF style wrap dress. Have you seen the price on the authentic vintage patterns!? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Size-10-Diane-Von-Furstenberg-Vogue-Designer-Original-1549-Wrap-Dress-Pattern-/131431595086

@mcholley1 they are on their way. I will include them in the bag tomorrow and if it is anything like today, the chances are great i will be changing her thousands of times! Unfortunately I didnt bring the camera today to take piccies of her in the size 3-6 months puppet show shorts and layette top.

Unless you’re matching plaid it’s a VERY generous fabric suggestion.
I bought the recommended amount, cut a size Large +1″ length and then sent the leftovers to @Nicole
I’m sure there’s enough there for her to cut a S or even M if she’s canny!
Definitely print off the pattern, check the width of your desired fabric and lay it out to measure.

I’ll second Nicole’s culottes and Jumprope polo 🙂
I’ve finished the school days coat. A very satisfying sew but definitely not a quick project. I’ll make another one but not immediately.
I’m think I’ll make my purple lace Swoon Scarf Neck Cardigan. But first I want to use the Penny Pinafore pattern to add some princess seams to the back. If it…[Read more] -

I will put my Nana hat on and advise a fine gauge wool singlet, preferably merino.
