Masha Richart replied to the topic What are you sewing now? in the forum off topic 10 years ago
Just sewed a cushion cover for the new window seat my husband built last week. Not my favorite sewing task and definitely not my best work, but it is done and serviceable so I’m happy. Getting the fabric from fabric.com, though, was an utter nightmare. I don’t understand how they can make any profit given the rate at which they seem to send…[Read more]

Cybele – I am so sorry. What a lot to be crowded into such a short period of time. I hope that sewing room gets up and running pronto, in the meantime you and your family will be in my prayers. Hugs to you!

A boy pattern?! Ok, now I’m excited 🙂 I love sewing for my boy and with another boy on the way I’m thrilled to have more high quality patterns for them!

Fabric.com has good options if you don’t have a fabric store close by that carries denim (and I’ve been happy with all the ones I’ve purchased from them). 6 – 6.5 oz with a little stretch has been great for our early spring and early fall temps, and the 8 – 8.5 oz with a little stretch is good for our colder weather.

I agree, the denim makes the pattern. Though, I think the Art Museum with maybe a different back pocket would work well. You could easily change up the pocket to be more ‘jean like’ and add some neat topstitching.
I have made the Titchy Thread pattern 7 times now with mixed results depending on the kid and size, stick with O+S;)

@Todd hope the skiing is nice! It seems like we haven’t had snow in ages, though I know they have big machines for that too. My husband took my girl up about 6 weeks ago and said it was a weird feeling being able to ski in a t-shirt. But, the mountain we go to is probably a lot more south (ie warmer) in the state than the one you are at.
Super…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoI feel like I’m running an ad agency for Brooklyn Tweed at this point, but it’s just something I know well and can use for a further example; I’m sure many other designers have a lot of these fantastic features.
When looking at a knitting pattern, you might be happier if:
1. It has a lot of makes on Ravelry. You can look at modeled photos of…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoI was thinking about this thread this morning while I was blocking something. It’s this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/arlo
and it asks you to block to a schematic. I was thinking that there are only a few ways for a garment to not fit. One, it’s poorly designed. Same as with sewing patterns — it asks for too few inches for a…[Read more]

Oh honey — that is a whole, whole lot of no fun at all. Wishing you a lot of courage and a few moments somewhere, somehow, for yourself. All I can say is that this too shall pass.

Sigh… I haven’t been able to sew since Christmas. I need it for my mental health. So much has happened in the past two months.
The wee one has been severely constipated since birth. I have tried every natural home remedy that was recommended by our doctor. Well she’s exhibiting symptoms of a blockage. So she has an appointment with a…[Read more]

Right on! I love sewing for boys. I sewed for my boys when they were younger and now love sewing for my little grandson. The Sketchbook pattern is a favorite. So many fun combinations! I am making the Nature Walk today. I find that boys are less picky and seem to love everything. I have a new granddaughter to sew for, so I now have double duty.…[Read more]
