I wonder if this may help, it is not the Tea Party but it shows you how to join flat piping.
Please disregard if it is not helpful.Thank you @georgeandizzy.

I have just finished a birthday party dress for my 2 year old granddaughter Nova, The main part is in a navy cotton with tiny white daisies with red, and yellow centres, and tiny green leaves. and the pleated portion is in a navy/white checked fabric with tiny splashes of the same colours as the main fabric in the centre of each square. The best…[Read more]

So I finally ordered the pattern – I got the smaller size that her measurements actually correspond to rather than being cheap and trying to alter a size 5 so I have the pattern until she gets to middle school! I’m going to make a version in some very lovely green and white seersucker (which I know she will hate!) for size and then go from there.…[Read more]

@mama_knowles you have to go to a particular section – like Sewing With Oliver + S – or whatever – then you can create a new topic

I don’t use the method shown in the pattern, Amanda. Start and stop basting the piping or flat piping about two inches from the place where you want to join the ends. Take the left part of the unbasted piping and lay it down along the bodice seam to the join (underarm seam in this case). With a fabric marking pen make a vertical mark on the piping…[Read more]

Along the same lines, I cannot start a new topic at all anymore. I have been a member of this forum for years and never had this problem until the web site was redone a while back. So frustrating!

@motherof5 do you have a tutorial for this one? I am on my mobile now and will check later if Nicole doesn’t check in before that. Also you could check her blog if you have the time, I know she has made this one many times and there may be an answer in one of the posts. http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com

Can anyone help with pictures of colored fabric for steps 6 and 7? I can not understand black and white drawings and this step always stumps me. I can’t seem to find a tutorial anywhere online that isn’t quilt binding in a corner or whatnot.

So glad that things are working out for your nephew, Justsewit!
What does ‘going on a camp’ mean? Does that mean a field trip or a camping trip with several overnights. I am sorry about the communication issue. That can be a sore point!
Good luck to Noah! You may be making costumes soon!

Justsewit, The little white dress sounds so pretty. I can’t wait to see photos! My collection of AS&E isn’t as extensive as yours. I am missing most of the issues prior to #21 with just four exceptions. I think that I am going to try to find #18 as that little picture of the romper in the Index has charmed me. You certainly will be busy for…[Read more]
