  • The fairy tale might be a good place to start because it already has darts.
I have recollections of seeing Nicole’s daughters in their hopscotch tops as they developed. It seemed the gathers gave a bit of extra room. I wonder if the class picnic and badminton gathers would too? Or you could do an FBA and rotate the excess into the gathers already…[Read more]

  • Will there be any spring patterns this year?

I’m feeling a little guilty. I made zero Easter outfits this year. I’m still battling this horrible wet cough and the prescription meds leave me tired and honestly, I don’t fee quite up to safely running a sewing machine. I cannot wait for spring to finally trump winter. 70*F one day 32*F the next and back up to 58*F the next day is wreaking havoc…[Read more]

@dubhels2003– It was actually a winter-ish/springtime in Pennsylvanis nightgown. Flannel with short sleeves, lol. I do really like the pattern, and I’m sad that this is the biggest size in the envelope, although, I’ll probably grade it up for another year or 2. I use Ellie Mae Designs K157. I really like the fit, and it offers a matching American…[Read more]

@enbee I have found they change instantly. If one of my photos get tagged with one of those explore ‘awards’ I make the photo ‘private’ (which gets rid of the 50 random favourites and odd comments) and then change it back to public.

    How’d the training go, Ellen?

It’s really terrible that you’re getting shut out by your coworkers on this.

Thanks, Nicole. Do you happen to know – if you upload something as public, can you then change the settings to private, or does public seem to stick, too?

I can relate @dubhels2003 motivation would be really nice right now!

I am currently stressing a litte. The promise to help tape pdf patterns together and cut out the tracings went totally out the window. I have only just measured the girl and she’s jumped two sizes! No wonder the jalie jeans I made her last August don’t fit, we are looking at…[Read more]

  • I cut the dress out the other night. In case anyone else ever has the same question, I am making a 2T with a tiny bit of extra length in the bodice and almost 2″ of extra length in the skirt. I cut the skirt, collars, plackets, sleeve tabs, button loops, and sash out of 1 yard of fabric. It was not a tight squeeze to make it all fit, but I…[Read more]

@thejennigirl What nightie pattern did you use? I’m going to make the big girl a summer nightie. Her winter one is a simplicity one I think. I was thinking of using the badminton dress without the scallops.

I have a playtime dress which just needs button holes and then the top fastening onto the bottom. I should just crack on with it…[Read more]

@mcholley1 have you ever made the school days jacket? You could do the pleat in the lining as per this and it should work. I would take it all the way down.

  • mcholley1 started the topic Lining a jacket in the forum off topic 9 years ago

So unfortunatly I’m sewing a non Oliver S pattern. I’m making a blazer. The pattern calls for a half lining but I plan to extend it full length. The lining has a pleat at the top to add ease. My question is do I extend the pleat down to the hem or do I blend it out as it extends down to the hem?

Thanks to anyone that has experience here.

I have just finished the most darling little croquet dress! And here I go again dreaming of more!

Next though is another shot at a simplicity jumpsuit for my eldest. Seeing as I couldn’t get anymore of the original fabric I will start again and use linen instead.
