Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years agoso the angst with regard to a magnum opus was not unfounded, but i am overall pleased with the result. I drafted a princess-seamed full circle skirt with long sleeves.
Silk dupioni lined in cotton voile, with embroidered organza sleeves and veil. I bought silk organza and was going to do the embroidery myself, but chanced upon some leftover from…[Read more] -

Practice the dart with some scraps before you sew it! You might want a little stabilizer, too, depending on your fabric.

Thanks Lightning and Liesl, I guess I will do the FBA. I have never done a knit shirt for myself before. It should be fun sewing. I hope.

I think it depends on your fabric, too. But yes, if you have a 4″ difference between your high and regular bust measurements, I’d think you’ll probably want to do a FBA.
I’m working on a peplum top from this pattern right now. I’m using a very drapey woven fabric, so I’ve gone up 4 sizes to get an oversized look. But I think if I had a fuller…[Read more]

@cat75 I’ll preface my response by saying I have no bust so haven’t done so myself, but I suspect you should.
It’s a top with a moderately wide neckline and a dropped shoulder. If you go with your full bust size you might find the whole thing too saggy sack like.
With a decent high/full bust difference if you fit to your high bust/shoulder it may…[Read more] -

I am planning to make one of these Maritime tops in Knit. Did anyone decide if a FBA is needed?
Oh, my measurements are 32 high, 36 mid?, and 30 low (right under the bust, rib cage I guess). Just because I love having my measurements floating around on the internet. -

I got this photo through the other day. All the girls made one for their mums so I thought I would share it here and wish everyone a Happy Mother’s day.

@sewgirl23 oh wow you are on a roll for sure! I love the pinwheel tunic and dress but as yet haven’t made it for my youngest daughter – made two for the eldes a d they unfortunately sat in the cupboard after the initial wear. And the afterschool pants make the best little girl jeans!
Speaking of jeans, I have drafted off the pattern I am going to…[Read more]

Everything I can get my hands on, is the short answer! Just finished the pinwheel tunic and dress and after-school pants this week for my daughter. A soft structured baby carrier for my son. In the middle of perfecting a sloper for a friend to use for her knitting projects. And deciding which sundress pattern to start this week for myself!…[Read more]

It’s a toss up for me between a beaded chiffon evening gown, and a tulle ruffled ballgown. The beaded chiffon was the most challenging in every respect- keeping the silk chiffon from distorting and the tension correct as is a normal challenge, but with the additional difficulty of having to clean the beads out of the seam allowance and tie off…[Read more]

Well the concord is ready to use and now I am on to altering the j stern designs jeans pattern I bought for myself when I first got the make your own designer jeans class with Angela Wolf on Craftsy. I had to cut the alterations short thanks to an all too keen to get outside toddler but she is now wrapping herself in sticky tape and having a fine…[Read more]
