Asmita, you just need to enter the shipping address in the United States on the page where you enter your shipping and billing address.
With the billing address of the card in India, the payment will process for you, and with the shipping address in the US you will get US shipping rates.

Hello,
This may be a administrative question but here goes.I want to order a paper pattern using a Indian credit card, (so have an international address for billing), but want it shipped within United States. When I try to do that the postage options I get are only for international orders. How do I circumvent that? Some help please! I want to…[Read more]

I made a version of the culottes but more as a wide leg pant for my 7yo. She wants a fabric jeweled belt as featured on the blog a while ago. But I really think adding a large attached sash that could be tied into a large bow would look great with a cropped cardi or tucked in tee. Anyone have dimensions for a sash belt for a 7/8 kids size?

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Adding organza to skirt in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 9 years ago
Hi @joslyn sorry for the delay in any reply.
Do you mean adding a gathered ruffle of organza to the lining, which will then show below the skirt hem?
Here’s how I would do that:
Calculate depth of ruffle – work out how much you want to see below the dress. Add 1/2 to 3/4 for a narrow or rolled hem.
Then add another 2 inches so that you can attach…[Read more] -

Thanks for the reassurance. I can’t wait to cut a few more. I felt like I was secretly at work in my pajamas all day. I think I’ve found my winter uniform!

I see it now – thank you!!!
I am making my 6 year old a dress with a dropped waist, long puffed sleeves and a flared a-line skirt. Your instructions for the pattern modifications are so clear and easy to follow. I am going to fully line it and add an invisible zipper. The top is black silk and the bottom darkish red stretchy velvet. I am…[Read more]

Looks like you did it perfectly! A boxy dress with dropped shoulder is going to have a boxy fit. Thus the lines. It’s normal for this style. The dress looks great on you!

That’s the right photo, @joslyn. You can see the full worksheet for the dress on page 20, including a sketch of the skirt on that particular dress–it’s added to an empire waist in this instance.

Thanks for your help. I am making a Christmas dress for my daughter. I plan to use the flared a-line silhouette with a fully lined bodice and skirt. I am thinking of adding a short layer of ruffled organza to the outside layer of the lining. Does anyone have any experience doing this – and any advice?

Hi
I am loving your book! I am in the planning stages of my daughters Christmas dress and I am looking at page 89- flared skirt with princess seams. I think the photograph that is included is the wrong one. In my book it is the blue dress with a navy polka dot yoke and ruffled cap sleeves. Can you tell me which picture is supposed to go there?
Thanks -

I extended the length of the bento tee to make a dress. I also narrowed the sleeves at the side seams.
1)Is there a better way to narrow the sleeves?
2)Is it possible to do something about these drag lines and maintain the boxy look or am I asking too much?

@rleibman I love everything about this question!!!
If I’m right, you’re a bloke, making a quilted Star Trek jumpsuit?! Damn, that’s a high five right there!
The tutorial is great. I’ve never read a sewing tutorial written for men and the walking foot hamburger analogy is fantastic!
Anyway, to answer your question… Yes, they intend for you to use…[Read more] -

Stupid question on an old thread. I’m trying to follow this tutorial (https://ds9nemjumpsuit.blogspot.com/p/tutorial.html)
On section 2, it says:
“Once quilted, serge the entire quilted assembly.”
I’m new to serging (just got one) though I’ve gone through a few online classes and videos on it, so I’m familiar with what the machine does.
Does the…[Read more] -
