Thanks, Liesl! Yeah, once I read the fabric suggestions I figured that some stretch was assumed. And I agree that I’ve never seen a completely rigid french terry either – I haven’t actually ever made these with french terry, but that would be my 2nd choice for sweatpants, behind sweatshirt fleece (it’s just so cozy!), provided that I can find some…[Read more]

Hi there! From the pattern envelope:
Sweatpants: Light- to medium-weight knit fabrics like jersey, cotton fleece, and French terry.
I’ve never seen a French terry without stretch, but maybe it exists? Yes, the pattern is designed for knits with some stretch. It doesn’t need a ton of stretch, but they might be quite slim without it.
I hope…[Read more]

Now that the weather where I am is threatening to come down out of the high 90s, I’m thinking about winter sewing for my guy. I’ve made him several pairs of these pants previously, and have always used sweatshirt fleece. They’ve always seemed very slim, and last year he grew out of his new sweats almost immediately. This year I was just going to…[Read more]

Hi~
I am about to try my hand at making a custom dress for Halloween for my little one. I am using a Key hole back. In my mind I won’t be using a skirt placket but wanted to double check this before I start drafting the dress. Thanks,

I would have used a circle lining if I had not cut out the pieces three months ago… 😬 Now as the weather is getting colder I would like to add the second layer and have to figure out how. If you say it should work to add the lining within the last steps I will go on stitchting the skirt together and use the outer skirt as a pattern piece for the…[Read more]

Hmmm, I just made this pattern yesterday so it’s fresh in my mind…
The placket is the very last thing you do, so I can see two ways you could line it without changing the order of steps.
One would be to effectively underline each front and back panel and have the lining enclosed in the hem. ie treat the lining and main fabric as one when it…[Read more] -

Hello!
Is there anybody out there who tried lining the skirt and keeping a working button placket?
I only lined Geranium/Washi dresses so far and have no idea how to do it for the front of the skirt and if I have to change the order of the working steps.
If you have some advice I would be pleased to hear.

I didn’t really intend the pattern with long sleeves, but I suppose there’s no reason you couldn’t adopt the armholes and sleeves from the Metro Tee if you were so inclined…

It would be an interesting exercise to see if the Bento sleeves don’t fit right on there… But then I don’t have the pattern to hand. Yet. 🙂

It may be possible? It’s kind of a Dolman style, the band at the bottom is what creates the sleeve look.
