Masha, I am so sorry to hear your terrible news. I truly wish there was something I could do.
I hope you have some support.

Oh you poor darling! What a horrendously stressful and worrying time for you. You are top of the prayer list for me now Masha. Please make sure you rest and take care of you! I know that would probably be the last thing on your mind right now. Do you have family rallying around you in support?
I pray your husband’s condition improves.

I feel strange posting about this but as I feel I have gotten to know many of you over the last years, here goes. My husband suffered a stroke yesterday morning. He is in the intensive care unit at the hospital and in critical condition. His left side is completely paralyzed. He is only 37 years old and we have no idea what happened. Our lives…[Read more]

Ok, I have to bite the bullet and sew big kid pants! There is NOTHING in the shop that remotely looks anywhere NEAR acceptable! Truly disappointing but, hey, I knew it would come around eventually.
So off to Spotlight I trotted and bought denim. Now I have to find a pattern to fit Noah as I have the Jalie to fit Imogen. I will compare Thread…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoFirst tip from me, when I sew a muslin, I put my seams on the out side, easier to alter.
#1 It appears you need to take fabric from the back piece, not the front. Unpick and move the back until you get the right fit, then pin and re-mark and trim to your new seams.
#2 That bust dart looks pretty good and your front arm looks nice!
#3 I wonder…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoI can’t see any problems with that Ellen. If you get ticked off, blame me 😉
If you are nervous, perhaps post a link to a Flickr photo and people can comment on that?

When I made mine, http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/the-garden-party-tutorial-part-one.html, I added a wee spot of interfacing to the bottom of the ‘V’ and also sewed the’V’ with a narrower stitch
Both dresses have washed like rags.
One washing tip from me, reduce spin and goffer the gathers a little and then let the…[Read more]

Every Staples apparently sets their own prices. Ours is really expensive, but I’ve found a blueprint place that’s really inexpensive, much more friendly, and always does a great job. You’re right, Sarvi; they know what they’re doing and I’ve never had a problem there.

I think probably it couldn’t hurt to interface a bit at the bottom of the keyhole opening. I wouldn’t interface the entire opening, but maybe at the bottom where there might be some stress you could fuse a little square. It could also work to edgestitch the opening if you’re concerned that it might fray. It will really depend on the fabric, I think.

Sharon! You’re back! Its so wonderful to “see” you on the forum again. That fabric is stunning isn’t it?
My first thought is carousel. I also think it would be lovely as a Badminton dress – not for your cooler weather i know but it came to mind. You could also go for the library dress and use the lace in the waist band somehow. The book report…[Read more] -

I have some blue and white floral lawn from Spotlight I have earmarked for another music class but am now thinking Puppet show dress for it…[Read more]
