Cooking and Baking 10 years agoLinda, another little one for you to sew for! In both my pregnancies I had low iron during and after birth. I loved sweet potato mashed with ginger and then fried up with steamed broccoli and wilted spinach and steak with spot sauce with a half of guinness on the side. Yumyumyum. Also chilli tofu with noodles, I *think tofu had plenty of iron in…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoDates are a power packed source of iron. I used to snack on those when I was pregnant. Dried beans, dark green leafy….

Linda started the topic Getting iron into your diet in the forum
Cooking and Baking 10 years agoHello! My daughter is arriving back in UK this week and is 29 weeks pregnant. She has requested liver and onions for dinner as she said she needs more iron in her diet. Anyone got any ideas for meals that are high in iron? She will eat anything!!!

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoAny boulangers in the house? I spent a lot of time cultivating my sourdough starter last year, but killed it as it seemed to be the only way to stop myself eating two loaves of bread a week. Since then, I’ve tried twice to restart but both times my starter died, so baffling! I think possibly I was feeding it too infrequently (I think my home is…[Read more]

Frances Suzanne started the topic Easter Sewing in the forum
Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoCan you believe Easter is a little over 2 months away?!?! Anyone have any plans to incorporate heirloom sewing and embroidery into their Easter sewing? And, if so…how?
-
Gosh, I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon! I’d love to include some embroidered details and maybe lace insertion — does that count as an heirloom technique?
-
Yes, it’s so early this year! The first step is to see if last year’s Easter Dress fits. I hope so, but she has recently gone through a growth spurt. It had lace and pintucks in the bodice and around the skirt.
-
Sarvi….ABSOLUTELY!! Both embroidery and lace insertions are heirloom {in our book}! Sounds like a great plan, Meleliza…start with what you’ve got, and go from there! As for us, we know what we WANT to do, but if it gets done is yet to be determined.
