For who knows what reason I am unable to view flickr (arrgh!) but yes, it should be vvvvvvvvvvv rather than >>>>>>>>>

Nothing to add to Nicole’s excellent advice, but good luck, I’m sure both the kid and the parents will be delighted to have a special, pretty dress!

I have a 4 day long weekend! I hope today I can finish off the Art Museum vest and hem my Appleton dress. And maybe make a Jalie Bella dress. I hope over this weekend I might be able to finish off my nieces quilt, it’s the last one of 4 tops I made nearly 5 years ago.
And tomorrow I get to help my nephew sew I himself a new onesie! -

Sew Alongs 10 years agoSo, before I get cracking, is this what a flat felled seam should look like from the outside? I’ve never done one before! This is not ironed and seam allowances weren’t measured, just having a test! Thank you.

Just wondering about the definition of a mashup. Is it limited to combining 2 or more Oliver and S patterns or can it also include changing up an Oliver and S pattern and combining an Oliver and S pattern with another pattern.
I hope and suspect that all these options are fine as we are a generous and relaxed community, but I thought I’d just check 🙂 -

This is just a playful ( no pun intended!) question to Liesl and her team. The ‘Play’ section of your website is something I have not seen on any other sewing pattern website; do you have plans to add some of the newer styles to the dolls’ wardrobes?

😃 @jwo until you’ve tried to intubate a rabbit, you know nothing of difficult airways!
I’d find all of that fascinating! -

I also looked at the date and thought May 🙂
Feb is great, it gives me my favourite sewing month. -

Mash-up challenge:
“Reveal date”: 2/5/16?
Flickr tag: “oliverandsmashup” ?Any other rules/parameters?
Although we want something new, should we go back and tag old stuff, like my jumprope with library sleeves, because so many of us have mashed up without thinking of it that way?
Once we set them up, I will start a new thread!

I’ve hosted a few NYC shopping trips in my time. Would love to do it again someday if there’s enough interest!

Sew Alongs 10 years agoSorry to hear that that seaming went so slowly, @sanitystitches. I pressed mine and then sort of fiddled with the fabric as I sewed, so I didn’t need to baste. But different fabrics may respond differently, too. And your finished coat looks terrific!
@artscience, definitely shorten and the shorten line. Anything else will give you a different…[Read more]

Pattern mash up/hack, yes please!
One of my favourite type’s of sewing 🙂 -
cybele727 replied to the topic Monochrome Project- B&W in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
Pattern mash-up sounds quite challenging. I know that when I did the jumprope and had to mash up Library dress sleeves with the jumprope sleeve head I was quite satisfied when it turned out loverly.
I do know that that type of work takes more time, and we are approaching the holiday hectic season… at least here in the states, you have…[Read more]

Hello there! This is quite random but I don’t know of any other forum that could give me some advice.
I made a blouse for myself and wanted to add piping on the neckline for detailing. The blouse is unlined. After a bit of searching around I decided to use the piping as the neck facing…[Read more] -

@mmollett here’s a link to a blog post right here on Oliver + S where I’ve shown how to do a placket just like that one.
http://oliverands.com/community/blog/2015/02/hide-and-seekcinema-dress-front-placket-tutorial.html I used the Hide and Seek dress, but you could do it to almost any dress. The playtime is probably the closest to your inspiration…[Read more] - Load More
