I will be sewing Dalmation ears for the school play soon. Not sure once they discover I can sew how much more they will give me.
The 4th and 5th graders are doing Cruella deVil. My son got a lead- he’s Pongo- the father dog. He’s quite excited!

I think this is the pattern I’m going to try:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/175085804/lingerie-panties-sewing-pattern-ohhh?ref=shop_home_active_8
The seller has training in foundation garments, which gives me confidence that she knows what she’s doing. I’ll let you know how it goes!

What about adding a pleat down the back to take up the excess, and add bias binding to both edges of the front. Before you turn and finish the binding you could sew both bindings together at what will become the outer-most fold so you get a seam down the center. Like this quick sketch.

Are the Briar tops for you or Imogen? I’ve been looking at the pattern and wondering if it would suit me (tall, short waisted, pear shaped) now I’m in the size range. Maybe made from a very drapey fabric.
I made myself a Jalie polo top. I am very impressed with Jalie’s placket. Not the fantastic Oliver and S instructions, but I got a very nicely…[Read more] -

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Narrowing the body and sleeves in the forum oliver + s: school bus t-shirt 10 years ago
To achieve that, I would cut the exact same size again, but sew the side/sleeve seam with a bigger seam allowance.
An extra 1/4″ seam allowance will take 1/2 an inch off the sleeve circumference and a full inch off the chest/body.
Saves on retracing the pattern in another size. -

Hi Susan,
Just wondering if your material selection had any bearing on the fit.
I have found that not all stretch fabric are the same, some have so much more stretch than others. I made t-shirts for my son when he was young, same pattern different interlock fabric, one fitted great and the other one we couldn’t get over his head. Just a thought. Sherry -

While we have a school days rain jacket cut and ready to go, we’ve been scheming some ‘subtle’ Disney sewing!

Hi Susan,
I’ve done the Parachute pants in size 10, and I don’t have any problem with the waistband. The style is more fitted than pajamas pants but not as fitted as yoga pants. There is still a bit of ease, like the Afterschool pants.
Hope this can help.

I bought a Gertie border print and now my daughter is in a size that to use border prints, I need a waist seam in the pattern. I am eagerly awaiting the twirling dress. It is in some ways a simplified version of fairy tale (in a good way), it seems. Although anytime I have an even slightly fitted bodice, I have to make a…[Read more]

Susan, I am sorry to hear that. I can’t speak to the parachute pant ease or sizing. Maybe they are cut narrower like a yoga pant? I don’t know.
I always measure before I choose a size. And I really look at the final measurements guide.
Not so much because of size consistency or lack thereof, but rather because who knows if they’ve grown…[Read more]

@madtownmama– I’ve sewn most of the O+s patterns, but I haven’t noticed any real issues with size inconsistency. I actually have to lengthen the sleepover pants (well, all pants patterns) for all 3 of my babies, and while I haven’t made the parachute pants, I noticed you had an issue with the waistband, so I’m wondering if you utilized the wrong…[Read more]
