I’m feeling a little guilty. I made zero Easter outfits this year. I’m still battling this horrible wet cough and the prescription meds leave me tired and honestly, I don’t fee quite up to safely running a sewing machine. I cannot wait for spring to finally trump winter. 70*F one day 32*F the next and back up to 58*F the next day is wreaking havoc…[Read more]

@dubhels2003– It was actually a winter-ish/springtime in Pennsylvanis nightgown. Flannel with short sleeves, lol. I do really like the pattern, and I’m sad that this is the biggest size in the envelope, although, I’ll probably grade it up for another year or 2. I use Ellie Mae Designs K157. I really like the fit, and it offers a matching American…[Read more]

@thejennigirl What nightie pattern did you use? I’m going to make the big girl a summer nightie. Her winter one is a simplicity one I think. I was thinking of using the badminton dress without the scallops.
I have a playtime dress which just needs button holes and then the top fastening onto the bottom. I should just crack on with it…[Read more]

I suspect that the vertical armpit wrinkle means you need less width through the chest at that point. I have fixed this by pinning out a dart on my practice version and transferring the new shape to my pattern. It can look quite odd.
You may need to add the amount removed from the front to the back, especially as you mentioned the back was…[Read more] -

I’m making a lovely class picnic blouse in burgundy, pale pink and grey rose print. I have only made this one other time but it’s a such an easy good looking make. I have 3 variations planned for over Easter 🙂

I have had to do this a lot. It sounds like my daughter is built similarly to your son – if I was going by the size chart she would wear a 2 with the length of a 7! I was given a bit of advice by Liesl a couple years ago, though, to only size down the width a couple sizes from the length, to preserve proportions. I find that this works for…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoThe other day Tsia was off from school, and she wanted to make brownies. She went to the internet to find a recipe and came back with this one. I’m not sure where she found it.
1 1/4 cups Nutella
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs
All you need to do is mix the ingredients and pour them into a greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes.

Hi Connie @totter2
Fusible web is like double sided interfacing. It’s used to stick two different fabrics together.
If you want white windows, you’d have to cut rectangles of white fabric and use fusible web to stick it down.
Thus, your windows can be whatever you want them to be.
If you don’t have fusible web, you could use fabric glue, or pins…[Read more] -

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoHi Mimi,
Wow, I think that pattern has been out of print for a while now! Glad you found a copy.
I would suggest contacting Simplicity directly for the missing elements. They produced the pattern and will be able to tell you what to do or where to get what you need. Have fun with it!

Hold this thought for the weekend @enbee we’ve got a blog post coming up with lots of inspiration for jeans from Oliver + S patterns!
My all time favourites were mashing the back half of the After School pattern with the front half of the Field Trip! But there are other great examples. -

Weinie dog top is shelved until I can make a button run. None of the buttons I have match. And the ones I thought looked pretty great actually kind of clashed badly in natural light. Of course.
Nightgown is complete and on a sleeping girl. I also whipped out the barely started Seashore dress I was going to work on in January before life…[Read more]
