I just made Cashmerette’s new tee, the Concord. Yay I have a TNT pattern again and it only took minor, for me, flat pattern changes and the first one is wearable and will be a great addition to my wardrobe.
I’m also taking in a tshirt and dress, I’ve had to remove an inch from each seam, 6 inches in total. I’m so glad they were princess seamed,…[Read more] -

Go Tamara!
I finished mending the rips in the school uniforms and moved onto frankenpattening myself some long pants. I sorted out shorts fitting last weekend and was going to frankenpattern them with some Ottobre pants so I could have the front inseam pockets I love from the Colette Iris shorts in my pants. However, disappointingly, the pants I…[Read more]

We agreed on this – Emily voted for the smocking on black velvet, and I chose the white coat. However, this heirloom creation was the most time consuming!
As far as what we would like to learn . . .
How to work well with (and feel confident using) a variety of fabrics – swimwear, knits, chiffon, crepe, leather, laminates, etc. and understanding…[Read more] -

That dress just took my breath away, it’s exquisite.
I also suffer from the too-hippy-to-rock-a-bias-cut-frock syndrome so feeling your pain there.

I would use ladder stitch as it becomes invisible once sewn.http://www.squishycutedesigns.com/ladder-stitch/
It’s often used to close up an opening left for turning. I also used it last week to reattach the bottom of a school blazer sleeve the that had parted from the body, perils of being the third child 🙂 -

These are great answers! I hear you on the curtains, @justsewit and @enbee. I made sheer linen Roman shades for the living room in NYC a year or two ago and they were brutal. And I also hear you on the quilt, @rhythmtyagi. Your answers are all very interesting. Keep them coming!

Did you remember to sew across the back triangle of the ears? I found this made mine stand up well but I’ve only used fleece to make the hood.

I’ve had a big sewing day replenishing my wardrobe. 2 pairs of self drafted leggings in red and aqua and matching red Mabel skirt (needs coverstitched hem). I also discovered the red leggings go with another Mabel skirt I made previously which was rather a closet orphan, now it has a friend and I have a new outfit 🙂
I also made a tiny, size F/2,…[Read more] -

You could definitely interface one or both ear pieces to make them stiffer. Go for it.

Where did you get your laguana jersey from? It’s my favorite knit material but I’ve only ordered it twice a few years ago. How expensive was the shipping?
I’m not sure what the most challenging thing I’ve made from a sewing perspective is but I third or fourth the fitting challenges! I’ve spent the last 3 days working on getting leggings to fit,…[Read more]

I recently swore like a sailor while seeing a hoodie for the kid. The hood and shoulder were one pattern piece and required a ninety degree pivot at one point. Yet there were no pattern markings at all and determining where that pivot point was, and getting it all to work without puckers was very trying indeed.
Not s hard thing to do if the…[Read more] -

The most challenging sewing project I have taken up was a quilt not clothing. I used synthetic batting which was very high loft. Everything that could have gone wrong, did!
I would love to challenge myself with something like a pair of jeans. It seems very intimidating to me. -
