This brings up a really good point. I wonder what the proper ergonomics are for standing and sitting sewing.

It is lovely looking at all the pictures of beautiful craft rooms online, but I have been reflecting that having a comfortable space with table and chair at the right height is massively more important than a beautiful vintage office chair (sigh, the beautiful 150s one will just have to stay lusted over on ebay!). I currently sew at the dining…[Read more]

I imaging if you’re sewing standing up then the table would need to be at least elbow height or higher!

Welcome Kahawa! If you can wrangle costume satin then making pants with drill and Oliver and S instructions should be doable 🙂
I didn’t end up adding the lace for this one but I have lined it with a small floral and used red and yellow together for top stitching. I’m up to sewing the side seams. -

Welcome aboard, kahawa! Sewing is addictive, before you know it you’ll be very picky indeed because you will think in the back of your mind, I could do better than that myself…
Ooh, tell more about the cutter! I’m so curious to know what you can do with it. -

Becky I made a weekend getaway dress in some crazy fine sheer fabric and no way could I staystitch (or stitch anywhere too close to an edge for that matter). I used 1/4″ strips of very lightweight fusible interfacing within the seam allowance and that worked perfectly.
Good luck with your sewing. -

If the empire waist feels a little too young you could always lower it a bit. That would keep it very much in line with current dresses for the pre-teen to 20’s age group!

Wow, I am seeing some fun stuff. Awesome job on the hat!!
I am pretty proud of this. It wasn’t difficult, but it was my first button placket for a shirt type style ever. My first collar ever. So, I learned a few new skills! And not that hard. Or at least when you have Ms. L next to you step by step.
