Can you seam some scrap fabric and have her hold/rub it against her skin, maybe around the neck where the seams might be thickest? See which version feels nicest for her?

If you’re using a curly edge knit I wonder if it wouldn’t be worse to have the seam allowances raw…
Personally I can’t leave knits unfinished or unhenmed. Just me, but I strive for my homemade stuff to be worthy in craftmanship of shop bought, if not better.

Seam allowances are included.
In the written instructions it will tell you that they’re 1/2″ (as per every Oliver + S pattern.
Be aware that many of us find the hat runs small compared to the suggested age, but quite true to the measured size. Make sure you measure your kids noggin. If in any doubt I’d say go up a size.

Wow, I way underestimated how many I have. 215 is the number. 55 were free (gifts, internet, pattern testing) and 52 have not been sewn. Of the not sewn, 15 are $1.00 patterns from Joann’s.…[Read more]

Oh rats, Audrey!! I’ve made that pattern only once, and I had to sort out the straps several times to avoid mixing them up. So lots of sympathy.
