I really enjoyed this season much like the others, it’s over so quickly and will now have to wait another 12 months before / if there is a new series. I agree that there was no real stand out as to who would win.
I thought that it was sad that May was let go, I thought her and Patrick were a good team. The new lady seems pretty good as well and…[Read more]

  • Glad you also enjoyed it Nicole! She was tiny, Im sure the sizings have changed since the 50’s! I agree with the industrial part of the costumes, they said that back then costumes were re used and changed for other actresses to save money. In particular that gold lame dress that was there in the glass cabinet was used on several other leading…[Read more]

  • I believe it’s a one off exhibition. A collaboration between Fox studios and a few different private collectors. The Director is very well connected and has had some amazing exhibitions. Nicole – the art gallery cafe has a great lunch menu, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope you enjoy it too.
The National gallery in Melbourne is currently showing 200…[Read more]

  • I did the 2 hour drive today to see this highly recommended exhibit, it did not disappoint. Wonderful to see many beautiful dresses up close and personal. To see the beads, fabric and all the beautiful details you don’t normally see. The gold lame dress was a real highlight as was the purple beaded dress she wore when she sang for the troops in…[Read more]

Aussies – If you check out the sew tessuti blog – they have the most current episode from last week and you can view it with no issues. Enjoy!!

  • I just made this pattern (love it) I had the same question but looking very closely at the illustrations on the instruction page I could see that I wasn’t going crazy. The cape is a great fit and my daughter has worn it everyday since I finished it. 😀 I’m keen to make the mummy version now.

  • I recently purchased the lovely blue and white floral Japanese lawn from spotlight. I got it on sale and now my daughter has requested another roller skate dress and she picked out the floral. It will be on Flickr when completed. My local spotlight seems to have lots of lawn, plain and patterned.

Thanks for the great tips Shelley. I did have a little play with the pattern pieces today and realise that I have plenty of fabric in case of a red wine spill or a mismatch in plaid!
Did you ever see the Great British Sewing Bee? I’ll imagine the judges scrutinising my pattern matching as I’m piecing it together!

I have had the forest path pattern in my stash for some time. I was waiting for the perfect fabric – I found it today, a dark pink & black plaid in a wool blend. Only $9 per metre, a real steal!
For those lovely ladies that have sewn using plaid, any handy tips? I picked up some pink bemsilk for the lining, haven’t sewn with that either. I’ll be…[Read more]

  • LisaMM replied to the topic Imperial v Metric in the forum off topic 11 years ago

Thanks for the quick reply Todd. I did see the size conversions. I was more thinking about the actual pattern instructions when it calls to sew a 3/8 inch seam? I had the thought of perhaps putting the metric conversion of that following, e.g. (6mm) – I usually just take a guess. ‘Lattemama’ suggested a great idea above of getting a imperial ruler…[Read more]
