@sarvi Thanks! We were quite surprised and she is so excited!
@justsewit Thank you Tamara! I am ordering the DVD’s so I can get a good idea of what to choose. The trouble is, I have always hated the Gene Wilder version. I love the story, but he gives me the creeps (in any film) so this will be some tough research for me. Johnny Depp on the other…[Read more]

I have made the Sailboat and the Hopscotch in denim and both were worn heavily. I do like the idea of a Swingset though!

Oh my! What an honour to have a leading role in the school play! We were just watching the 1970’s version of the movie, the one with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka the other day.
I would say that costume in particular, for me, epitomises the very character!
But…. You could make a destinguished looking cahracter based on your own…[Read more]

@roundtheworldgirl Masha, that is upsetting to hear! It sounds like you did the right thing though. There will always be people out there with less than savoury intentions. Flickr doesn’t seem to be the place to go with photos as much as it used to be. I use Instagram more now and like that I can make it completely private except to those I add. I…[Read more]

Oh Masha!😱 It is completely unspeakable how these people can get around something that is meant to be very innocent and abuse it to the point where it spoils it for everyone else!
I don’t blame you one little bit for staying vigilant and cautious. It has happened to me but not to this capacity. I had a photo of my daughter wearing a Dorothy…[Read more]

Whew! Thank you for the reminder that Easter is in March this year!
My youngest needs new dress pants, I wanted to make a vest for him, and he needs a new dress shirt. Obviously, @mama_knowles has her act together, so I’m going to follow suit and make up the Art Museum set and a new Sketchbook shirt. The girl will need a dress. A collared Fairy…[Read more]

Since many of us are spending lots of time indoors during the colder months, it’s a great chance to start planning spring sewing. What’s in store at your house? Any big plans? Colorful projects in the works? Do tell!

@the jennigirl, it sounds as though your children have lotsof opportunities to dress up for themed events – which is better than being stuck at home doing nothing😀 Good luck😀
I have finally gotten the chance to start sewing the culottes for Imogen, from the Megan Nielsen Tania culottes pattern. I am up to inserting the zippers and even though I…[Read more]

You know 89 is not a bad “innings”! He sounds as though he lead a rather fruitful life. Often it is the family occasions, happy and sad where family can really enjoy spending time with each other. I am so glad everything went smoothly. I expect it cannot be easy leaving your children to go on a trip for such a thing. I had no idea schools dictated…[Read more]

Wish me luck. My oldest has the school’s 8th grade Renaissance Fair tomorrow, and I am scrambling to put together a Crusader costume. We made a quick run to WalMart last night, and scored some white flannel and red felt for a tunic, and his faux chain mail is being created with large gauge black tulle layered over a silver metallic costume fabric.…[Read more]
