I have just about finished a blue linen every day skirt. I used the elastic for something else and only have enough for one row, so just need to get a bit more to finish the second row. I’m not entirely convinced it’s ‘me’, I need some time to myself in front of a mirror to try styling it etc.
Has anyone come across a fitted LINED pencil skirt…[Read more]

Maggie, I’m sorry to hear that. Nuts that they took the flannel as well as the more ‘normal’ items to steal. I hope you feel OK about it and it hasn’t been too traumatic.
I am going to go back up my pictures (and pdf patterns!!) now.

Heidi she was using the teacher’s and the parent’s phone to contact me. Apparently they were sharing what they are getting up to on Facebook also. No they specifically said that no mobile phones are allowed because it was such an issue last year. The teachers had to make sure they were looked after. So this year only the adults have them. Imogen…[Read more]

I’m really pleased your husband is making some progress, that’s great news.
8 Weeks and 4 update queries/complaints later it’s finally acknowledged that my fairly sizable Mood fabrics order is ‘lost in transit’. The previous order they sent me $90 of neoprene that was someone else’s order. Not very impressed and mostly frustrated that the boucle…[Read more]

Oh that sounds like a wonderful toy to keep you sewing with Masha! I am so glad your hubby is home. I have been thinking of you over there and wondering how you have been coping. The doctors appointments will get fewer as improves I am sure but of course right now they are very relevant and required.
My daughter has been sending messages to me…[Read more]

I did join now and it says something about the group being searchable but members and posts are only visible to members. Or something to that effect.
Thanks!
@justsewit yeah, Tamara, I’m more of a Facebook reader than poster – I do belong to several sewing groups…some informative, some drama (which I then leave). A good way to learn new…[Read more]

I just hit the “purchase” button on a Brother 2340cv coverstitch machine!! My siblings (I have four of them) and father were very generous for my birthday last month. I hemmed (ha ha) and hawed over buying it, but when the hem on my newly sewn Colette Mabel snapped today while I was giving the kids a bath, it was the last straw. I can’t wait…[Read more]

@juliamom2009 when the group is closed does this mean invite only? I scrapped my facebook account because I have stalkers! But, if the stalkers went away, I would happily be hoping for an invitation to this group!
I don’t believe there is any harm in asking to join. But then the fear of rejection can take its course and people may not bother…[Read more]

You may want to consider changing your group from “Public” to “Closed” – personally, I don’t need my non-sewing (like work, basketball, soccer etc.) friends seeing my posts/comments in sewing groups….not that there’s anything wrong with sewing…I’m also weirded out when my non-sewing friends follow me on Instagram as well – maybe it’s just me!…[Read more]

dubhels2003 replied to the topic Recital dress ideas? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
OK, this is perhaps a smidge (actually a lot!) inappropriate for a recital, and possibly also for a child… but the idea of a black and white dress done a bit ‘differently’ caught my imagination. I have a completely daft desire for a frothy black tulle overlaid skirt (search pintrest, drool!). How about fairytale dress with a black tulle…[Read more]

You could also go Fairy tale again but do the top white and the skirt black to depict a two piece. I love the animal print idea – once again the mind was read!

@mcholley1 I was thinking of you, after your comment on my blog about your daughter eschewing bright colours, as I’m due to start work soon on a zebra print Fairy Tale dress! Mine is for opening night of Carnival Of The Animals where children are invited to dress up as their fav animal (I vetoed fake fyr onesies!)
A mad print like that on a Fairy…[Read more] -

Ok my (one handed baby on lap) list of ideas. Fairy tale dress black with white belted bow and white collar. Fairy tale dess with white and black print (Lila Tueller springs to mind) or go spotty! I woll think of more and get back to you (when I have both hands back and can type with out error)

I just received a text message from Imogen saying they arrived at 6pm last night, that they played “spotlight” on the beach (good thing I put my torch in for her) and that she is sharing a tent with four of the nicest girls in the class – always reassuring! So it sounds as they she is having a ball already.
