I managed to correct and finish two pairs – one each for the kids. Imogen’s were perfect on her but Noah’s stretched and he needed to wear a belt. I gently lectured him over the importance of cooperating when measuring him so that he could wear clothes that were just right not too big or small. He has promised to not stick his tummy out…[Read more]

I was sewing until midnight and stuffed the waistband on one pair of jeans. Total number out of 4 pairs done for our trip today? 0!

Hehe! Sewing snobbery rules! Nuthin’ to be ashamed of there! I do the same and apply Oliver and s sewing principals with other patterns now. Some instructions are very vague out there.
I am steadily trundling my way through the two extra pair of jeans – Jalie 2908 stretch jeans size “v” (9) and (shock horror!) Thread theory Jedediah pants in size…[Read more]

@cybele727 – I’m curious – are you happy with the way the fabric shop cut it? Because I cut large scale prints that way as well….so I’m wondering if that was a good thing to you or a bad thing…

It will be easier I you sew a basting stitch along the seam allowance and the clip the seam allowance almost to the basting stitches before turning then to the inside.
I’m sure I’ve seen other colour velcro at Spotlight in Aus, but off white or black is most common.
Have fun with it, it’s a gorgeous pattern. -

I think that’s what Cindy did when she first enlarged it, but then found that the enlarged top section meant the straps started too low down and the bag was unbalanced.
I can’t recall if that was a discussion on here or on Siestas and Sewing blog -

Ok, thanks everyone! I may go the @sarvi route and kind of wing it a bit – I love the added pockets that Sharon did. School starts in 3 weeks….need to get cracking!

Yes that’s right! So the lunchbox tee in fleece would be considered a jumper or pullover (in your case a sweater) and the music box jumper is what we would consider as a pinafore.

My love of stripes and cheap fabric has led me to this problem a couple of times.
With the fabric wet you may be able to realign it so that the selvedges meet and the stripes are vertical, or maybe not.
I would cut so that the striped pattern is true and figure that a small degree off straight grain is workable. -
