I used a very lightweight fabric for View A and I would like to make a slip that is attached to the skirt. Do I cut it out with the same skirt pattern? Do I use a narrow hem on the slip and how much shorter should it be hemmed than the dress?

I would cut a second skirt and hem it 1/2 inch shorter.

    What a great idea!

Personally, I would use the skirt pattern, making it slightly narrower and depending on the fabric you use, 1/2″ to possibly 2″ shorter. I use linen a lot to line garments and make slips. Linen has a tendency to grow over time as one wears it. I have found I need to make linen slips/linings a good 1″ to even 2″ shorter. If you are using a cotton voile or batiste, going 1/2″ shorter like Nicole mentions should work well.

    Have fun sewing,

I recently made this with a slip, or lined skirt. I used cotton batiste and cut it out using the skirt pattern. I just cut it 1″ shorter and gathered it along with the main skirt. I love the result. Here is a link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sandiknowles/5572511687/in/photostream
