Growing up in Oliver + S

I was having a look see in the flickr pool to get ideas on fabric combinations for the Puppet Show Dress pattern. I have yet to sew the dress and my youngest is almost out of a size 5. Oh no! I digress…but what I was amazed with was how much our children have grown in the last few years. It’s rather sweet to see the progression.
Which brings me to this…when was your first Oliver + S flickr pool submission and what was it?
Mine was in July 2009 and was a Lazy Days skirt.:)
12 years ago LINKOh, what a great topic! I’d love to hear about this, especially since S really has grown up in Oliver + S and I’ve loved watching your children grow up wearing what you make too. How fun!
12 years ago LINKNoodles @NoodlesMine was an 6-12m ice cream dress made in about September 2010. I had been drooling over the O+S patterns for a while, but I was pregnant with severe carpal tunnel and couldn’t sew š Once Noodle came out though it was a different story.
I couldn’t wait for her to fit into the dress. It is still one of my favourite pictures of her.

12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I made Jump Rope dresses for my girls http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/4444610080/ and a love affair started.
Dear little baby Noodle!

12 years ago LINKjuliamom2009 @juliamom2009Mine wasn’t really that long ago, but boy how Oliver + S patterns have taken over my sewing life! I had a hiatus from sewing of about 15 years….stopped sewing clothes for my oldest daughter and only sewed her gymnastics leotards through high school. I didn’t even have a machine (or a kid to sew for)….then I got one of each, somehow found Oliver + S, and got totally back into sewing again!
Here’s my first Oliver + S – my daughter was 20 months old, and is now 2 3/4 years old…..one year makes a HUGE difference!m http://www.flickr.com/photos/janice4839/5925834325/in/photostream
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesMine was the sketchbook outfit for my three boys and a Tea Party dress for Sweet pea last May. My hubby bought me five patterns for Mother’s Day last year that I had been wanting but wasn’t ready to spend the money on. Now I don’t think twice about the price. š Like Nicole a love affair started!
Juliamom that has to be my favorite outfit you have sewn your daughter!!
12 years ago LINKJane @jesimsMy first O&S post was in June (http://www.flickr.com/photos/notsewplain/7355279722/in/photostream). I had been looking at the patterns for about a year and finally bought one. I instantly fell in love. I have a ton of other patterns from the “major” pattern companies but have no desire to sew with them anymore. My little one is only 2 1/2 so I have lots of O&S years ahead of me. š I can’t wait to see her grow up wearing such fun clothes.

12 years ago LINKkatybellabug @katybellabug12 years ago LINKAna Sofia @Ana Sofia ASM_BlueSo good to go back a couple of years (already!).
Mine was in February 2009, Miss M was 11 months-old and it was my first attempt with a commercial pattern. I had discovered Oliver-S a coupe of weeks before and couldn’t wait to try it.
It was love at first sight š
I used the Tea Party Sundress (so many mistakes! A good reminder that practice leads to perfection – still working on it, lol):
12 years ago LINKKim @kmac0107I read the Oliver & S blog for a year before I started to sew for my granddaughter when she was 14 months old. I was very excited to find such wonderful children’s sewing patterns and a syllabus to learn to sew the right way. Her first Oliver & S dress is the bubble dress: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27084526@N02/5436186903/in/set-72157624465149801 (I didn’t take the photo, my daughter did, so excuse the feet).
12 years ago LINKsayiamyou @marayaI found O+S around my daughter’s first Christmas in 2009 and made her first outfits early in 2010. She wore them for her very first professional photos:

I remember being oh so happy that I’d found O+S. I’d tried a few Big 4’s before and was getting so frustrated with teaching myself to sew. So, thanks Liesl et al for changing it all for me!
12 years ago LINKJustine J @justmejayOh, mine was almost exactly two years ago to the day! An Icecream dress made for the Icecream Social sew along hosted by Amy/Badskirt

12 years ago LINKcybele727 @cybele727Hi! Today is my first Flickr contribution and my first dress. The Music Box Jumper.

What I loved about the Oliver + S pattern was the little details and finishes. My daughter is 3 and I look forward to making many more.
That Family Reunion dress will become a staple, as will the Music Box Jumper.
