I am sewing dresses for Easter for my three granddaughters. I am making this dress in a size 14 and a size 8. My six-year-old granddaughter measures a a size 6 for the hopscotch dress pattern. The Girl on the Go pattern starts at a size 8 I thought about using the hopscotch dress and trying to change the front to a tee shirt like neckline and a…[Read more]

Hello! The Sintra top/dress is unlined, so the pattern and instructions don’t include lining instructions. I would suggest interlining it if you’re adding a lining. With regard to piece 6, there are two size groupings in order to read the details more easily, so you only need to find the piece that includes your size. I hope that helps!

The fabric I have selected is a cotton voile and the dress will need to be lined. Do you have instructions to line this dress? Also, if lined, I may not need the pattern piece #6…but in case I do, or for future reference, could you please tell me how to determine which piece #6 to use? There three different sizes availalbe. I am making a size…[Read more]

Thanks for your help. I clearly didn’t fold the plackets enough, I just don’t know where I missed that step.

Can you post a picture or some more detail about where you’re confused?
This was the first Oliver + S pattern I where sewed back in 2007 and I recall it being so clear compared to the Burda pattern I’d just tried making 🙂
It’s been a long time but I’m sure I can talk you through it if you let me know where you’re stuck.

I spent so much time making the tunic, but for some reason the placket is completely wrong. This is the one pattern that is confusing. All the others are so clear. Can there be a sew along for this?

Hello, and I don’t know what happened to my original reply! Very sorry for the delay. Yes, I think you can absolutely do it this way. The collar won’t lay quite the same, but it’s a shortcut that’s often used. Would love to see how it turns out!

I’m making the coat. My fabric is fairly heavy and thick. I’m at the point of adding the collar, and the directions tell me to add the collar to the coat, and the collar lining to the lining, and then bag the whole thing. I’m wondering if I can’t construct the collar, sew it to the coat, and then “bag” the lining. The last jacket I sewed was…[Read more]
