@cybele727, I was thinking about you and the notcher last night. Notchers are a lot like hole punches: I think that if you tried to use them on fabric you would be sorely disappointed. They’re really intended as a pattern-making tool for notching the heavy cardstock that’s used in sample rooms. If you tried to use them on fabric I think they…[Read more]

@thejennigirl what a pip! It is as much as saying wearing a tent will make you look like a million bucks!
I still have the blue dress on the table waiting for me to sew it. I have only just returned home and during the (long) trip home, I tallied up the sewing items that need to be made before we go (again) in a week’s time. I don’t think I will…[Read more]

@dubhels2003– getting there. The pants were moved to the “grow into this before finishing” pile, and the 2 vintage patterned blouses need only buttonholes and buttons (awaiting on a button order to arrive in the post before final button decisions are made), otherwise, I only have the seashore dress and vintage patterned dress left to finish before…[Read more]

I would do the size 0 based on their bust measurement. If you scroll down underneath the pictures of the pattern you will see the finished measurements given (under the fabric allowances). You will see that there is some 5.5 inches of extra measurement given for the bust alone. Basically it is a loose fitting dress so with this in mind, the hip…[Read more]

I believe body measurements are listed under another tab on the website. They both are measuring approximately 32″ bust. Size 0 is based on 35″ hips if you can’t find the measurements online.

OK, looking at that pattern I see she didn’t give body measurements, just finished garment measurements. Perhaps part of the sewing lesson will need to involve making a toile. (I have to admit to never doing this for kid sewing for casual clothes).

Tunic and dress sizes are determined by the chest measurements(unless tightly fitted), so go with those and alter if necessary. Tiny sizes, my daughter was a 0 until age 25, I even used some kids patterns for her and she shopped in kids sections in some stores. I think the only adult patterns I used in that size range were for leggings, tees, and…[Read more]

We are “teaching” a sewing class. We say teaching very loosely since Liesl will really be doing the teaching :). Two of the girls have selected the Gallery Tunic / Dress to sew and are both measuring size 0, however their hips are only 31″ and 33″. Should we make adjustments and if so, what would be the best method to accomplish this? Also, we…[Read more]

Looking forward to seeing your photos!
I’ve just traced and cut out the pattern for the birthday party dress, size 3. This is my first time using this pattern. I found some mustangs in mustard from cotton and steel in my stash which I plan to use for the dress with some matching navy. Fortunately I realized it was from a quilting friend it hasn’t…[Read more] -
