@lightningmcstitch thank you so much for responding to my post. I managed to finish my shirt but I’m not pleased with the result & would like to make this shirt again. I need to figure this out so I made a mini muslin of the area I’m having trouble with (creating a reenactment,if you will 😊) & have attached 2 photos. As you can see the right sid…[Read more]

Hi @lisam can you add a photo to help us find a work around?
The one time I made a shirt and french seamed everything, I also squared off the hem as it was a casual All Day Shirt for my husband.
Right at the side seam there’s not much if any curve to the hem, and given it’s only a fairly narrow hem, I’d just try hemming it without any…[Read more] -

I finished all the seams on my classic shirt with flat felled seams & have been pleased with the finish but I’m having a problem with the hem. I’ve ended up with a raw end at the dot where the side seam stops and we’re told to cut into the front seam allowance at an angle. I can’t seem to figure out how to correct that. Can anyone give me some…[Read more]

Thanks for the image @karenbadeerThat helps a lot and has saved me digging out the book to check the pattern.
The image from the instructions just below your fabric demonstrates that the cape itself is made up, from centre front to centre front of the following:
1 front panel, 2 side panels, 1 back panel, another 2 side panels, 1 front panel.
Do…[Read more] -

Hopefully here is the photo of how much extra was in the hood. I believe my seams were accurate and I clipped the neckline of the cape.

Hi @karenbadeer
Here’s the link to the previous topic that @novicesewistwas referring to: https://oliverands.com/community/forums/topic/red-riding-hood-pattern-size-m-cant-get-hood-to-line-up-right
But…. I don’t think that’s your problem. That post is talking about constructing the hood.
It has been years since I made this pattern, but there…[Read more] -

I am making the Red Riding Hood from the “Little Things to Sew” book. If I use the center piece on the hood I have 2-3 inches more hood than I do room on the neck of the cape. Interestingly that is the exact size of the center section of the hood. I’m making three capes so the first one I made a big pleat in the back of the hood. The other two I…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Question about the back neck of Geneva Blouse in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 3 years ago
It’s a more open neck, so it will also be more open in the back, yes! Glad to hear that you like it.

I haven’t tried it but it would probably work. Would love to see it if you make it!

How about making the Yanaka in a ponte? Would that be stable enough? Thanks!
