Bonnie replied to the topic Ruffle on top? in the forum oliver + s: after-school 2 years ago
Thank you. That was my lunch reading :).
I do have another question. Because the back and front yoke design mirror each other I am trying to decide if the ruffle should be both in the front and back or just the front? It’s for a 9 month. Thanks

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it, but I can’t remember where it was. Here’s a tutorial for adding piping. Adding a ruffle would be much easier, but a similar process. And very cute! I hope you’ll show us if you make it.

Thanks for your patience while I’ve been out on medical leave. Hmm, can you posts photos so we can try to troubleshoot for you? Which view are you sewing: View A with the pockets and waistband?

Hi Liesl,
I’m making the Garibaldi Skirt in size 12 with pockets and waistband. I’m having trouble fitting the waistband to the skirt. The notches don’t line up and the band appears to be approx 1 1/2 inches too short. I only printed the size 12. I even used the patterns to try and line up in case it was a cutting or sewing error.
Any ideas…[Read more]

Just catching up with you all after a few weeks of travel and illness. Here are two ways I handle the corner of the hem:

Hello fellow sewers, I’m visiting Seattle and Portland from Australia in late Feb and would like to pick up a paper pattern of the Peckham trousers. Does anyone know of fabric shops in Seattle or Portland that stock Liesl’s patterns? Yours, Annie

I’ve only made this (or the recital shirt) twice, but I like to French seam everything, and it bothered me to have a raw cut at the vent, too. I found this tutorial – I haven’t flat-felled many things, so I’m not sure whether this method will work for that finish, but I thought I’d throw it out there. My first attempt at doing this technique with…[Read more]

@lightningmcstitch I think you are right about solving this by redrawing the hemline. I don’t have the Geneva blouse pattern but I do have a different pattern that would probably work.
I know a lot of people love this shirt pattern, including me but I can’t find any mention of this issue in the reviews I’ve read which leads me to think I’m n…[Read more]

Ah yes, I see that my “don’t clip it at all” idea wouldn’t work. I was thinking of the curve at the side seam being more like the gentle curve of the men’s shirt, or the kid’s sketchbook. I’ve made a few Classic/recital shirts so you’d think I’d remember!
I wonder what happens if you clip the seam allowance with the opposite angle? I might try…[Read more]
