Hi there, I’m very new to embroidery and heirloom sewing. At the moment I’m trying to do my first piece of pleated smocking, does anyone know of any good video tutorials on simple smocking stitches for beginners… I’ve had no luck with YouTube??

@kateclemens What about these… http://www.infinitefreedom.com/free-smocking-lessons/
They look simple and straightforward – and are for basic smocking stitches!!
I don’t know about any video tutorials but I do know that if you pick up a copy of the A-Z of Smocking, you can’t go wrong! I also know that if you live in the US, a SAGA chapter might also help. I’m in Australia but have been a SAGA member and they have online courses etc – but first things first, you need to know some little ins and outs of smocking. This book is the best. It shows you everything from pleating, blocking to stitching trellis, cable and other stitches. The photography is clear so you won’t get mixed up.
Good luck.
