Sarvi. That’s the problem. I copy the Flickr link and try to past but it won’t work. It will paste into a browser or word doc. I even hand typed the link when I clicked the link link.
In any event the dog at the dress. Ate. It.

Thanks for your comments, all! Cybele, this is not my first. I have rapidly cycled through crushes on several other O+S dress patterns after discovering them a month or so ago. I feel like a kid at Christmas who runs from one opened present to another, saying “This is my favorite!” Each is so distinctly it’s lovely self. I think you’re right that…[Read more]

Nothing to add, but that I’m applauding Todd for his rhyme. Nice one.

Making costumes for free is such fun
But the moment that I have begun
I wish that I hadn’t
Because I’m a pedant
For the direction, the faux fur, will run.(Dedicated to Mel http://oliverands.com/community/forums/topic/alterations-advice )

Tamara, I am sorry for your loss.
Helen, good luck with your sewing. You will love the Lullaby. We had a day out yesterday and Trixie is very unsettled so I am hand sewing with a baby on my boob.

It really is Becky.
I have to admit I made a mistake in my first version as I assumed I knew what I was doing (blush).
I have a soft spot for this dress, I look forward to seeing your version. -

we call those outside toilets outhouses, still in use at some camps as well in places off the grid (no electric access, not uncommon around the hills and mountains). My husband grew up using outhouses in North Carolina, no indoor plumbing until about 40 yrs ago for his family. We call indoor flush things toilets, he refers to them as commodes…[Read more]

Well done kahawa101. We also have another little gem “the long drop” which refers to toilets usually out in the bush. Its a very deep hole with a little shed built over the top and a toilet set. Not very hygienic, extremely smelly and the flies in the summer are unbelievable.
We lived in Samoa for a few years and long drops are very common in…[Read more]

how many of us Yanks grew up “using the john” when we had to use the bathroom? That term is not in use much anymore, and heaven only knows how it came into being.

Sanga – sandwich
snag – sausage
loo – toiletThat’s hopefully remembering correctly – it’s been over 10 years since I’ve lived in AUS! I’ve had too many influences on my colloquial English over the years and now have a mishmash vocabulary (and a currently Chicago/Midwest accent). I find myself adopting the lingo of wherever I live, but for the…[Read more]

University is the place of higher learning at which you earn your degree (or not 😉 )
As per Sarvi there are schools for each area: Law school, veterinary science etc.
College is the hall of residence that you can choose to live at if you’re from out of town.
This may, or may not have been typed from the loo…. -

🙂 I love that feeling too Becky.
You can’t envisage where you’re going but you trust the instructions and it just works. The Croquet dress was definitely one of those for me. -

I’m concerned about getting a “terminal” degree! . In Australia anything “terminal” is something that will kill you fairly quickly!
