Thank you for returning me to earth. Since I have the body proportions of a daschund, sometimes I do start thinking too much about how high and low things are on a pattern. This is one of those times.
Many tutorials about petite adjustments recommend removing the pocket. I think this pocket is a special part of the Everyday Skirt. I have loved…[Read more]

I don’t know if there’s really a standard–it’s more about what looks and feels right on your body. It’s probably fine–that detail is so small it’s not going to detract from the skirt once you get the length right for you. Does that help?

Part of the issue is that a simple pattern makes the lace easier to work with. I don’t have a lot of time to piece lace by hand to fit say, a full skirt. But I don’t think they’ll be entirely the same, just similar. Mine will be grown up shaped and hers will be little girl shaped.
I figured I’d be in some of the pictures. For the wedding, I…[Read more]

I wish you the best for making the scarves sewsoslow. A community effort such as this one would be valued beyond belief to the recipients I am sure.
Being exhausted from the week’s events, I managed to get the placket done only on the Cape Ann bodysuit, despite it being the wrong one. I plan to make a shirt to go with the little mauve coloured…[Read more]

Sewing? Nothing at this point. I have 6 skirts, all with yoga-style waistbands to sew up for gifts for my grands. At the moment – I’m busily trying to get multiple scarves made for the “budget challenged” folks in town. Our group just found a bag full of hats without scarves, so my bag is a total of 8 scarves (to be done by Monday, the 24th, noon) YIKES!!!

Using bits of the same fabric would be great especially since your daughter asked you to. Believe me, that won’t happen often. I wouldn’t do the same styles, or too matchy-match, but components of it in each of the dresses is fine.

I’m so glad you’ve got this sorted @meleliza. I have to confess that whenever I see a thread about PDFs with your name on it, I have to look. Kind of like watching motor racing for the crashes.
(please don’t take that unkindly, I genuinely sympathise with your frustration too).
I wish it was so easy down under. Our largest standard paper size is…[Read more] -

WendyS, we would love to see it but…. I can’t see it here at least. Perhaps it was uploaded onto the flickr group page?
Just got back from the usual Saturday routine of swimming lessons. Having a little veg out time before going to do some much needed sewing.
I discovered a bishop style angel top this morning that has not yet been smocked so I…[Read more]

I think it is a fun and cute idea to coordinate for the bridal shower, and less attention-calling than to do so at the actual wedding. I do remember from my own wedding that our flower girl’s mom was in many of the pictures of the bridal party — also because she was the ring bearer’s mom! I don’t know about small and large dresses that look the…[Read more]

All that sounds complicated, to be honest. But I’m happy to report that after an adventurous Friday afternoon rush hour (Philly takes Friday afternoon rush really really seriously) we located the print shop in a slightly creepy basement despite the lobby confusion of an Asian American conference of some kind and picked up a correctly scaled p58…[Read more]

My mom and I never matched, so I guess I’m not scarred. Though it would still scar me if I thought I was dressing like her. Shudder. And I didn’t have siblings to match with.
It will be funny, I think, but I also think it will make for a good future date night dress.

I just discovered Oliver and S. Wow I’ve been missing out for so long!!! I have to say I’ve been addicted to making t- shirts since I bought the School Bus T-shirt pattern last week. I’m now stepping it up and trying to use the color blocking tutorial on another this weekend. So far I have my fabrics laid out. Here is one I just finished. My…[Read more]
