    What a great find!

  • This one is designed to have a pretty slim silhouette. What age is the child and how much stretch does your fabric have? I imagine an older child could shimmy into it but it might be a bit of a struggle. When you say stretch, are you thinking of a woven with some stretch? Or a knit? Could you use snaps (the kind you sew in) or velcro to make a…[Read more]

This is also not a ‘broken’ but a usability question — would it be possible to modify the @ function so it uses the screen name rather than the profile name?

    Here: http://oliverands.com/community/forums/topic/fiber-club#post-41778

I had originally written it out as @Nicole which is how her name appears when I’m reading through the thread, but…[Read more]

  • Thinking about using this as the starting point for a costume. But I’d like to modify the shoulders to be closed seams and use a stretch fabric.

From those of you who have sewn this pattern before, am I crazy to attempt it with a stretch fabric? Any tips or advice?

(This was the first Oliver + s pattern I bought, but my daughter is just shy of…[Read more]

@motherof5 That is so funny about the steel wool! I would love to be part of a group like that. In junior high school (about age 12-14) that was the only class I did well in. Still love the smell of sawdust and the clang of tools.

@rhythmtyagi Wow, you must be so proud! I could hardly the back of your work from the front. And I bet it’s not only…[Read more]

I just started a new project this morning that I’m very excited about– I picked up a raspberry cashmere sweater at Goodwill ($2!!) that is a women’s small. Heavenly soft. Ran it through a hot wash and dry, and I’m using it as the bottom part of an Ice Cream top to be worn as a layering piece– my 4yo is anti-sweater at the moment but in the past…[Read more]

  • Ok, so in my head I’ve started shopping for blazer fabric. Wool for the first one, some corduroy, velvet, denim, seersucker, tweed with leather patches… It’s going to be fun.

It’s funny isn’t it Tamara? I couldn’t have children, (too many fibroids, no where for an egg to implant) somehow got pregnant, had far too many complications, was told I miscarried, delivered a healthy baby girl and marvelled at the wonder of it all. And yet when the doctor told me not to have more children I was devastated. Which seems…[Read more]

Many years ago, when I was in Austria, I bought some beautiful yarn and a sweater pattern. Those Austrian ladies could knit like maniacs and they made it look so easy. I was able to finish 2/3 of the sweater, but after more than a decade (I hear you @vothgirl) I finally gave the pieces to my stepdaughter to unravel and crochet into something…[Read more]
