Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoOh yes! I love that idea too! This child is going to have a lot of outfits! Ok so this might sounds crazy but bare with me for a moment. What if I used the puppet show top and the tea party sunsuit bottom and modified them to mash together. It would have the collar, a line to add piping to the bodice and I could embroider the bodice with little…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoYes I adore tartan in general also (maybe it is the Scottish roots?) on boys particularly. I think that if you swap the button/snaps to the back and add tucks from the shoulders down to about level with the bottom of the armhole and also add a piped peter pan collar you could have an heirloom version of a boy layette shirt. I also like to have…[Read more]

My four year old was helping me hang washing and was naming things as she passed them to me:
“your undies mummy,
My brother’s sock,
Daddy’s nose blow thing,
…”Laundry names seem to be a sticky point as she once asked me, very loudly, in the swimming pool change rooms:
“where you get that booby holder from, mummy?” -

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI definitely agree with that. I love a tartan. That is so cute and both ideas are adorable! I will definitely be adding those to my sewing list for my future nephew! Look at how little they are!!

definitely not scary monsters then if they leave new clothes!
The other day my seven year old kissed her daddy on the top of the head and said:
“I’m going to kiss you on the top of your head every day when you are bald!”For the record my husband has a full head of thick hair! (and so does his father who is almost 70!)

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI would love powder blue linen with white, piped with navy.
My son (nearly 18) wore frilly tartan shirts with navy trousers, which is possibly dated now but I do think a check or a tartan ‘mans’ up a baby outfit.https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5815343596/in/set-72157624823403656

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI do have the puppet show, @motherof5! Yes I’ll definitely try that! The hide and seek would be adorable too! What color do you think? I’m so inexperienced at sewing for boys! Give me baby girl and I’m golden but I’m still learning to get my creative juices flowing for little boy things! Hopefully this nephew will help things along 😉

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI made up the Puppet Show in white hailspot muslin for my baby before I knew what it was.
I also think the Hide and Seek tunic would look gorgeous on a wee baby boy.Do you have the Puppet Show? I wonder if that collar would fit?

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI can’t help but think when I’m sewing the little layette (and I’m sewing it A LOT right now as almost all of my friends are having babies by the end of the summer) that it feels like a modern heirloom (contradiction, I know).
I’m making the bodysuit in a batiste which automatically makes it feel special and on certain ones I have been adding…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoAwesome!
I make a quick lunch of feta, cucumber, tomato and a little celery (for crunch) seasoned with salt and pepper.
It is quick and very tasty. -

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoSo I’ll start out by saying that we are not vegetarian but we don’t cook much meat in our house. We buy meat maybe once a month, maybe less. Although we do buy fish a little more than that. But anyway, we eat a plant based diet.
The hardest meal to go more vegetarian is lunch, what with sandwiches that are heavy in meat and such. So I thought…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 10 years ago@roundtheworldgirl, what a bummer! My husband says the same thing happens to him with all melons, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew… He still eats a little in the summer though.
@motherof5, we are hoping to build a hot house (glass house) next spring. We just moved into a new house so inside projects are being done this year and outdoor…[Read more]
