I just altered my son’s tap costume. The pants were so large that the crotch was at the knees and they fell down to his ankles. It has to be some of the worst sewing I’ve ever done, but to do it right would mean taking apart the entire waist band and zipper, and moving it all down. If I raised the crotch too high from the bottom, there would…[Read more]

Forgetting where I put a pattern whilst planning a project and then ordering the digital version out of desperation, printing a copy and then finding the original paper pattern under the fabric I intended to use with it!

I am half way through constructing skirt number two. Have taken a break to turn in for the night and listen to dh’s snores (oh joy!). I have given myself permission to get on with joining in the skirt challenge since I have been relieved of formal dress sewing duties (thank goodness for that).
This 2+2 skirt is in a light pink corduroy, a remnant…[Read more]

Here is the link http://www.plushaddict.co.uk/dress-fabric/cotton-lawn-fabric.html They have only just started stocking it online. I’ve managed to pick up some bits in store at several places, but not online yet, other than ebay!

Selfishly I hope it isn’t Helena! And my sister’s name is Alice, maybe my folks were choosing from Queen Vic’s kids’ names?! I really like my name and I like that it isn’t too strange but isn’t an everyday name, and I would rather it didn’t become too commonplace. Not that it really matters in the bigger scheme of things I don’t suppose!

I still love Alexandra or Charlotte for her though. And I would think they may even use Catherine as this would have ties to not only Catherine herself but to her maternal family.

We’ll see. Their are so many lovely royal girls’ names to choose from. The child was 8lbs 3oz – very sturdy.

Elizabeth has to be in there somewhere! And if they were to use a name from Diana, I tip Frances not Diana.
