Sarvi, thank you for stopping by. I try to remember to add the ribbon loops because children’s skirt/pants hangers are hard for me to find and I like to give a nice hanger with each article of clothing I give as a gift.

I can’tell believe that you are attempting to make two dresses in ONE day?! Wow! How are you faring? I am not the best at…[Read more]

  • That makes more sense 🙂
You won’t see the white interfacing through black fabric, normally. I have used double sides fusible and thin fabric to make my own interfacing.

  • D’oh! Good catch, Heidi! I only have *white* interfacing, not black. Oh brother, that was a very confusing question, wasn’t it. THanks so much, I’ll go check out that link!

  • I’m a little confused on the colour of interfacing you’re missing 🙂
I can’t see why the pleat wouldn’t work. I would also check to see how much length she needs to get in and out of the dress. you may be able to only add the zipper to the bodice.
Also you might want to check this out for ideas for the zip, http://www.ikatbag.com/2014/11/elsa.html

  • Hi folks, any suggestions for me? I’m installing a zip in a (fairy tale) dress with a white bodice and black skirt. The skirt and skirt lining are both very delicate, sheer silk fabrics. I only have black fusible interfacing. I’m wondering whether I could use wonder tape/fusible web and bit of lightweight black cotton to improvise the interfacing…[Read more]

I don’t think anybody else would have noticed, but I know it feels nice to have them tidied!

Well I wound up making two dresses that came out rather well, I thought. When she was 3, she had a size 3, when she was 4, she had a size 4, so now she’s 5 (and 6 in October!) I made size 5s. Nope!! All her growth has been tallifying and enskinnying. She…[Read more]

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I will get either more of the cotton I already got for lining or another similar color lining fabric and underline the dress. I know that this will turn into an everyday “play” dress right after the wedding, that’s the stage of life this little girl is in! Because of that I want it to be sturdy and hold up…[Read more]

Thanks, Karen! I only spotted one or two typos but I know it can be annoying to see them so I fixed them for you. 🙂

P is tall (90% for height). I have bought her a few sundresses for summer but in order to get them long enough I have to get her 6 or 6x. They are all too big around the chest, a lot too big. I have never done any alterations to a RTW garment, so before I start hacking at dresses I paid good money for, I’m looking for suggestions for the proper…[Read more]

Sure do wish I could make corrections on my post! So many spelling, typo, and grammar errors! Ugh! I’m sorry!

    Hello, Ladies!

Justsewit, I am hoping that you choose the fabrics that will allow you to do some smocking. Smocked bonnets on babies are just so precious and the time for smocked bonnets is so short. I can’t wait to see what you make.

EllenMCM and Katybellabug, I am anxious to see your Badminton skorts. I am going to be making one sometime…[Read more]
