I sorted through my almost four year old’s clothes the other day and realised that once I take out everything that doesn’t fit anymore she is left with very little in her dresser and wardrobe!
So… I quickly made her a couple of pairs of playtime leggings and started on a sweatshirt using the school bus tee pattern. My first attempt (school bus…[Read more]

cybele727 started the topic Monochrome Project- B&W in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
So this morphed from another thread… we are thinking about doing a sew along… 2 rules… an O +S pattern and black and white.
It could be anything …formal… casual… snappy casual… pjs…holiday.
Black and white could be fun.
Dates:
Post a pick of your B&W O&S outfit in Flickr by 10/5. This will give us who are exceedingly busy…[Read more]

Have finished a pair of Sandbox pants in navy cord, and a Swing skirt for Miss C to wear in Bali. Have just posted latest creations to Flickr. There are rather a lot of pic but I’d really appreciated people’s patience. Not so much industry as very limited download on home computer therefore slow speed in uploading better lit pics to Flickr.

We could turn it toward the recital topic though by incorporating the music theme into it maybe? Or we could one just for that …. maybe?

I’m worried we’ve rather taken over the recital dress topic here!
I’m really looking forward to this, I think it’s a really inclusive theme. It could be sneaky school uniform, so very practical, it could be fancy dress ready for Halloween, it could be a recital dress or it could be something really whimsical. It isn’t that usual to see younger…[Read more]

Maggie replied to the topic Fairy Tale sizing help? Skip the darts? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 10 years ago
I’ve always skipped the darts when making this dress and it’s always turned out fine (and been extra comfortable). Maybe she could send you something that fits well?

That will give us a bit of time to sort out something. The final week of September is busy for me so the week before would be more convenient. I would say this is an anytime sew along though it would be good to sew along with everyone else.

Oh I think just B & W. :). Maybe grey since monochrome is the spectrum really. Otherwise anything goes.
What if we plan for end of September? Enough time to plan and execute?

I made myself another Penny pinafore, this time the dress, for book week assembly. I started it after work yesterday and had it finished by bedtime. I love having a TNT pattern for me!

For some reason my message above looks garbled!
Anyway, its Wednesday and I have not started any sewing projects for the show. I think I will have to give it a miss this year. Three kids poorly and myself working hard not to go over the edge with a lurgy also. Not to mention farm issues (shearers not turning up etc). It has turned out to be all a…[Read more]

needlewoman replied to the topic How 'long' does the Tea Party Dress (18-24 mth) fit? in the forum oliver + s: tea party 10 years ago
Thank you Sarvi, your experience of the T Party is also very helpful as I cut out a size 5 of the dress, and would like to make it up for the intended child but was concerned it might be too tight. Now I know it’s probably worth the effort, and if it doesn’t fit Miss B, then it will be fine for a younger child. Since leggings are all the go here,…[Read more]

I used Art Gallery knit for mine, it has the weight to it as Liesl knit she had a few years ago. Nice and sturdy and sews very well. I will post pictures later of mine.
