No measuring as we live some distance from our sons family, and I wanted the outfit to be a surprise. I think the waistband would fit, and possibly the skirt without a nappy but that’s not going to happen for a 1 yr old. buttonhole elastic is a great idea – thanks for that. I’ll try it on a bigger size

@nan53 did you measure your grand daughter’s hips? My 15 month old has to wear an 18-24 month size on her bottom half just because of her hips! I haven’t as yet made this pattern for her and, knowing it is a slimmer fit skirt, I will do the same and use this size. She is a 12-18 month size in the top half.
You can always go up and then tighten…[Read more]

I’m late to this discussion but have just made the Sunday Zbrunch outfit for my grandaughter’s first birthday. Jacket fits well and looks lovely but we couldn’t get the skirt over her disposable nappy. I made the 12-18mths size and am thinking of making another skirt 2 sizes up, and possibly adding a button placket at the centre back for ease of…[Read more]

Go Tamara!
I finished mending the rips in the school uniforms and moved onto frankenpattening myself some long pants. I sorted out shorts fitting last weekend and was going to frankenpattern them with some Ottobre pants so I could have the front inseam pockets I love from the Colette Iris shorts in my pants. However, disappointingly, the pants I…[Read more]

Traveller dress needs collar stitched down, buttons and holes and sleeve hems done.
B5616 needs sleeves sewn in waistband on and buttons and holes.
Jalie jeans need topstitching, back pockets and a basic putting together of well, everything!
Nearly there with all three.

Tamara replied to the topic Lisette B6244 Coat Sew Along in the forum
Sew Alongs 9 years ago@McNeill I would be inclined to do it that way. And then you would have a nice fit in the shoulders and bust area. If you were to do the 12 all over it might look wrong.
I would grade out to a 12 once you get to the hip. Because your measurements just go up a size or so it would be simple rather than to try and reduce it in the bust and waist to…[Read more]

We agreed on this – Emily voted for the smocking on black velvet, and I chose the white coat. However, this heirloom creation was the most time consuming!
As far as what we would like to learn . . .
How to work well with (and feel confident using) a variety of fabrics – swimwear, knits, chiffon, crepe, leather, laminates, etc. and understanding…[Read more] -

That dress just took my breath away, it’s exquisite.
I also suffer from the too-hippy-to-rock-a-bias-cut-frock syndrome so feeling your pain there.

The most difficult (and most expensive, and most time consuming!) thing I’ve ever sewn was my wedding dress.
Slippery silk satin and lace that I took a lot of beads off and rebeaded the edges so it had a scalloped beaded edge all down the front.
I wanted it to be a thirties style bias cut, but discovered that bias cut doesn’t work well if your…[Read more] -
Bedtime Sewer replied to the topic Lisette B6244 Coat Sew Along in the forum
Sew Alongs 9 years agoHi, I am trying to decide what size I should make my B6244 coat. As my measurements are all over the show- size 8, 10 and 12, would I be best to go with the bust measurement (my smallest measurement)? Then it would fit around the shoulders? Would appreciate any suggestions.
